I read that to go online in this game you have to have linked your epic account.
But when i pressed link on the title screen, the button just glows, but does not do anything.
I logged into my epic account and unlunked both steam and remnant 2.
Still the button only glows, but does not open any overlay.
Is there any way to unlink the accounts again?

Disable frame generation, relaunch the game whilst Epic Games is already open and try again.
Alright thx I will try tomorrow
best of luck, the frame generation is a known issue with that particular problem. let everyone know how you get on, I'm sure someone will be able to help.
Ok nothing happened the button only lights up but nothing happens
as zou see nothing happens
epic game store is among my open tabs
i am happy for suggestions i am going to go to sleep and trying again tomorrow
i must admit i am still not a single step further i have contacted epic games support
You don't need your epic account to be linked actually, you only need it for crossplay.
You just won't be able to play with people from other platforms, but PC to PC will still work
Did you try to turn off FrameGeneration on your Graphics card? That can prevent the overlay from opening.
i thought i needed the epic linking to go online because that is broken
What is broken?
i cant go online
for some reason it is always offline
and i get kicked back to the main menu
when i want to switch
Back up
When you put the game in public, what happens?
Does it say connecting or does it just straight up not do anything and immediately kicks you back?
So it doesn't even try to connect to online?
yeah just kicks me back immedetiately
Did Online play ever work?/is this a recent development?
i played the game with my friends normally
just 1 week ago i gifted it to one of my friends for christmas
but cant play online
But offline works?
I.e. you can load in normally with no issues?
Did you try updating your network drivers?
Not long ago a Win11 update contained a faulty network driver, maybe it's that?
yeah that is no problem but i want to play with my friends sadly
Have you tried reinstalling the game yet?
i will try
Not verifying files or anything like that, actually uninstall, restart PC, reinstall
network driver
yes
took a while but did it overnight
try finding the file path to the game's .exe file and add it to your firewall's whitelist
There is something mega weird going on here, this isn't like any error i've seen before
how do i do the network driver part?
It's like the game's request to use your network immediately kills the process
yeah
there was another guys
with the same issues
Device Manager -> Network adapters > Right-click adapter > Update driver > Search automatically
alright thanks a lot man really appreciate it
You also have the Epic Launcher installed right?
Not because you need it but it comes with certain files that can fix Epic Online Service problems
And you tried to turn off Frame Generation too? Because you had issues opening the overlay
yes
i think i cant open the overlay because epic wont connect though
epic wont link i unlinked everything on their website
now it wont link again
It should still open the overlay
The overlay is part of the Remnant 2 install
And Frame Gen is off and was off when you launched the game?
If it wasn't restart the game with frame gen off
Np
firewall was completely off
but no success
just temporarily disabled it for 10 mins
Okay, imma go to my pc real quick
Try going to this C:\Users<YourUserName>\AppData\Local\Remnant2\Saved\Logs\ and DM me the relevant file
If there are any
If this is caused by the game it should show up there
Should end in either .log .xml or .json
if it's empty the game either doesn't recognise it or it's something other than the game causing it
what's the latest file in this NGX folder
open the 3DB5D4... and see whats in there
that was right around the time you did the test
show hidden files?
if it's genuinely empty then idk. typically these dumps are for exactly this kind of stuff
but in technical terms, it's like as soon as the request from the game goes out to use the network, some verification fails and your system kills the process
the most logical for me would be firewall but you tried that and it didn't help.
it seems the genuinely best bet is to hope either Epic helps you fix it or it eventually fixes itself
sorry i couldn't help you fix it. I hope Epic can do something for you
you did your best
Yeah that pretty much confirms it's some kind of local configuration problem
yeah
What you can try is to completely reinstall your drivers (not the whole PC, just drivers) using DDU, uninstall the whole game, then shut off your PC, wait a few minutes, turn it back on, and reinstall everything
If that doesn't fix it I genuinely don't know what could be fucked
Also make sure this is installed in case it somehow isnt: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170
