I play on the Xbox Series X, Derntator is my Xbox gamertag, my Mrs. plays on Xbox Series S with FalconGyspy is hers.

Below are the list of events that occurred:
While playing late Saturday (Sunday Morning) with my Mrs. (Lee) who was hosting our gaming party. We were on her campaign mode,

  1. I noticed my character inventory and map menus weren't properly functioning (wasn't able to cycle menu tabs or navigate the map)
  2. So, I "dashboard" the game, IE hit the Xbox center button > quit the game. Then I tapped Xbox friends list > Lee's profile > selected "Join friend's game"
  3. The Remnant 2 initial/ main loading screen appeared to be stuck or frozen. So, I dash boarded Again and attempted to rejoin her game through the same steps.
  4. This time, the only screen that appeared was the "Region Selection" menu IE the game's mandatory start up process.

MY PROFILE IS NOW GONE.

  • My character had 92% of all items found, 7 prisms and over 626 HOURS OF PLAY.
  • From the issues listed from your support threads, it appears that my character's profile was "corrupted" somehow in the loading process. Forcing the game to "reset" and subsequently auto-deleting my original profile.

Here is my Remnant 2 toolkit account, its up to date with all my builds and items discovered. https://www.remnant2toolkit.com/profile/cmdjpxd6y000014nl7jndtv5t/created-builds

Response from Ticket Support team was to post it here

so your character does not show in the character selection screen correct?

#

if you know/are able to, most consoles have cloud backups, so you could try to load that one instead. tho i am on pc so idk how that usually goes.

spark girder
#

Yea, the original is simply Gone. And normally that would be the case for "reloading" the backed up save, unfortunately it appears the "load in" it self was corrupted and force started a new character process. In doing so, it overwrote the original save...

#

Are you 1 of the game developers?

languid haven
#

pc save files have backup files on there that the game itself makes. idk if that also happens for Xbox but afaik you can get your save files on a USB stick and could then open them up on a pc / laptop to check if they are there

right on

#

Na, on Xbox this is more problematic

languid haven
#

oh yeah... just found it out online You can't directly back up Xbox Series X game save data to a USB drive

torn ibex
#

None of the game devs will responding to this most likely.
The issue that you’ve come into contact with, if you’re on Xbox, is that Xbox’s cloud save overwrote your save. There genuinely isn’t a way to get that back, because there aren’t any sort of saves that are kept on file other than locally stored ones - which again, your cloud save overwrote.

#

Which I know is not the answer you were looking for, but that’s just how the console save system works

spark girder
#

Exactly. Going back and forth using "ARC Games" support team, this is where it ended. I understand they don't have our profiles on some Master or Centralized server, but they COULD load in a profile on my Xbox that has all the missing items (prisms, guns, outfits etc). Just put them with 1 of the in game venders in Ward 13...

languid haven
#

So i guess this is sadly a rip then

#

I am really surprised you cant backup the files via USB

#

that is kinda wild

torn ibex
#

Xbox and PlayStation cloud saves overwrite data when the game gets closed.

#

They also do not have access to accounts, so there literally wouldn’t be a way for them to put a completed file on your account.

spark girder
#

It actually is though. The game was bugged out, so I had to dashboard and attempt to log in. When logging in the same became "corrupted" and therefore Forced a new profile... subsequently Overwriting my profile.... So was their fault

languid haven
#

well save files can corrupt, but that there is no way to load a backup or even make one is honestly more of an xbox L

spark girder
#

Yea, both true I suppose. Game bugs out, R2's fault. Corrupted load overwrite, Xbox's fault.

languid haven
#

pretty much

torn ibex
#

You dashboarding, which closed the game, which forced Xbox to initiate the cloud save, is the problem. If the game was trying to solve itself, you basically forced it to stop and Xbox did what it’s programmed to do.

#

That’s the short of it.

spark girder
#

Apprecaite the feedback.... Pretty sure I'm Fd. Totally sucks too.... I was 92% of Total Completion....

torn ibex
#

Again, not what you want to hear, but there isn’t a way to resolve it other than have a PC player cheat in the progression you lost.

https://www.remnant2toolkit.com/profile/cmdjpxd6y000014nl7jndtv5t/created-builds I don't see why the publisher couldn't do the exact same thing you're suggesting for the lost items. Yea, I'll have to rebuild my actual build along w/ the guns..... but I have all my blue prints easily seen in the toolkit, just as easy it is to see what items I had.

Arc Games is also the publisher, Gunfire Games is the developer. So the publisher tossing you over here makes sense because it’s a game problem, not a publishing problem. Either way, neither the publisher or the developers will just give you a save file for that. Because since you’re on Xbox, they would have to access your account which opens them up to a TON of liability problems. If you were on PC, you could probably find a 100% save file online and just plug into your save folder.

languid haven
#

or if you could access your save files with usb yeah

spark girder
#

That checks

torn ibex
#

Example of a liability issue:
They go in and add this save file.
You have a problem with a totally different game.
“Oh well GFG came into my account and did so and so, so they messed my stuff up. I’m filing a lawsuit.”

spark girder

riiiiight

#

Messy

This is also pretty much an Xbox only thing, because Xbox doesn't allow you to turn off Auto-Sync

#

On PC or PS5 this would be a non issue since on PC, there's always a backup file and you can keep manual backups, and on PS5 you can turn off auto-sync, so the cloud backup is whatever state you wish it to be, not automatically overwritten every time you close the game

#

The only way to avoid this is by either playing offline, or having a physical backup on a USB or Hard Drive, both of which are pretty suboptimal solutions

#

Ducky has already explained why GFG or the publisher can't really help you with this, but what you can do now is write a spicy (but respectful) email to XBox support to complain about this issue, in the hope that they will one day allow you to control your own data sync on the product that you bought and paid for.

#

This is very much on XBox because they're the ones making backups impossible (or at least prohibitively difficult to utilise)

#

The Update gets worse....

#

So I was "Forced" to complete the region selection & Character creation..... Only to shown the amount of hours played, the current Apocalypse Campaign (that was Just beaten) and retained the latest quest items.

#

But EVERYTHING else Gone...

#

there are 2 save files. One for your profile and one for the world you rolled. Only the profile was wiped the world save is intact.

spark girder
#

yea, I'll show you

#

was just putting them into pics

spark girder
#

All I'm saying is the game already has a "Built in feature" that could fix this. Simply have a Developer drop in My game and sell ALL MY LOST items to 1 of the vendors. Every single piece of gear, gun, archetype etc is created from an item discovered.... EASY FIX.

torn ibex
#

Ok so, having a cheater spawn everything in. That’s the same thing.

#

“I want a dev to give me everything I’ve lost”

#

A person with cheat engine can do the exact same thing
