Ryzen 7 5800x3d
EVGA 3080 ti FTW hybrid
2x16gb corsair vengeance RAM 3200mhz
windows 10 pro ver 1809 (os build 18863. 107)
directx ver 12 installed
GPU driver release date 8/22 latest
solutions tried: ensuring directx 12 installed, updating c++ to latest version, installing windows 10 updates to latest, adding -d3d12; dx12 extensions through steam launch options, launching from desktop icon, launching from steam, launching from install folder, launching all of those but as administrator. i believe thats all.

today i had to do a fresh install of windows 10. prior to that i was able to play about 130 hours of r2. any help or insight into this issue would be appreciated.

#

Have you tried this? First, open the Nvidia Control Panel. One way to do that is right-clicking on an empty space on the desktop and choosing Nvidia Control Panel from the menu.
Navigate to 3D Settings > Manage 3D Settings.
Open the tab Program Settings and choose the game from the dropdown menu.
Next, select the preferred graphics processor for this program from the second dropdown. Your Nvidia GPU should show as High performance Nvidia processor.

i dont see an option for preferred graphics processor. perhaps what i highlighted?

#

this is the only option with anything like what you said. i tried running it with this setting as is and still no luck

Looking back at your initial post, rem2 worked fine and you did a reinstall of windows and now it doesn't work?

for your information, a friend of mine got the same issue with W10, he did the upgrade for W11 and the problem was gone

the short version is my aftermarket cpu cooler did not support my previous r9 3900x. i had already bought the 5800x3d so i did the swap. after the swap i could not play any game without constant crashes ~5min in. "video scheduler internal error" BSOD. i had completed all of the troubleshooting steps verifying RAM and storage DDU then updating graphics drivers. a fresh windows install was the only step left. so i did and no crashes but now no remnant.

#

the only other game i tried was armored core 6 which runs fine so far

Seems to be a Windows update issue. I'll look further into that after I sleep. Thanks again John
