You’re probably right, and I doubt that it’s an big engine issue since it runs good when actually driving.
Vacuum leak shouldn’t be an difficult or expensive fix, i’ll look into it, thanks.
’I don’t smoke, this is for fixing cars I promise’ 💀
Of course. These motors are great on these Hondas. I doubt it’s the motor. Hoses and components are 24 years old. Bound to have some leaks
quick update after driving it a bit more:
cold start needs a little throttle to catch, otherwise it struggles
idle hunts/dips and can stall when coming to a stop
if i blip the throttle it recovers, but drops again
noticed a slight stutter/hesitation around ~3k rpm under load
doesn’t seem temp-dependent (same cold or warm)
no obvious smoke from the exhaust, power otherwise feels normal
does this still point to vacuum/IACV, or should i be looking more at fuel/ignition (filter/pump, coil/distributor, MAP)?
Do you have a check engine light? Distributor would point to a misfire.
not sure about CEL tbh, didn’t check that, but I'm 90% sure it doesn't have one if I remember.
but it does hesitate/stutter around 3k so could be misfire related?
