Alright i just need advice on how long you think this timing belt has left on it, i mean it’s 22 years old so i know it’s screwed but im stuck daily driving it till I can either save up enough money from my part time job or convince my dad that it actually needs replaced (im 16)

That belt is not 22 years old. It has paint marks indicating it has been replaced. Look though your glove box and see if you can find a recept of it being done. As long there are no cracking its safe to drive on untill you have money to get it changed.
Oh fr? In the photo its not super obvious but along the side there is a decent sized crack it’s not a top crack like usually happens it’s like along the side of half the belt
old belts you start to see the teeth inprint from the top, that belt looks near new
oh nvm I can see teeth inprint
eh doesnt look bad tho id say it should be fine till you got better finances
That looks more like a result of the manufacturing process. As marine says there are some imprints, but honestly it’s not too bad.
does this belt have a roller on the flat side? if so might explain why the paint is still there
It stays even with a roller.
I mean like a roller that contacts the flat side not just teethed
Yes. On my car the roller has not even begun wearing the paint after a year of driving.
ah
10 years and 100 000km miles, sure.
damn i prolly should of done the water pump on my 1uz
though the marks were more like chalk then paint
I reckon this belt is good for at least 6 months of semi regular driving. You agree?
easily, I drove with a frayed timing belt for like 4 months so that one should be fine
Yeah the belt doesn’t have a known history of being replaced but it’s had a couple different owners, car only has 83k miles tho.
I used a wax marker.
Thanks for your help.
Is that not a mark from the manufacturer od the part? my timing belt came with chalk marks for tdc and cam timing
Nah nah. If a Lexus dealer did that belt it would not have any marks at all. There is equipment to do belts ”blind”.
ye I was just saying incase it was a belt from say blueprint or sum
?
Yeah it makes sense to not be a dealer done belt, there is 0 history on carfax or in known repair history, but the last 2 owners of the car were “do it themselves” people so maybe one of em did it
this part i ordered for my 200sx came with chalk marks for timing
Assume the last owner did it when he bought the car.
oem replica part
I don’t think previous owner did he gave us history on all repairs he did, but the owner before him might have.
