This video shows the step by step process I took to remove and install the differential in a 2017 Nissan Rogue

Pretty straight forward replacement. Assuming nothing is rusted to hell.
How many miles? How did it break?
Gotcha
She says almost 200k
It’s my moms car. She really hasn’t kept up on maintenance other than oil changes
Also said she hasn’t hit any potholes or anything so I have no Idea how it happened. I can only assume she did hit something and it broke it that way
The diff might of actually locked up if a fluid change has never happened
Either way I would replace it. Reason why I’m asking about mileage is because it would be worth replacing the axles as well.
You have to remove them anyways, might as well install new ones
That’s a possibility. Her awd kept engaging on the highway and overheating so she’d have to pull over. I can only assume because the diff was how it was
Just recently she’s been hearing a slight knocking sound from the rear at speed (diff)
If a bearing or any of the gears seized it would have locked and broke the housing.
Gotcha
This job is straight forward it seems. However, find parts not by the year but by your VIN.
NissanPartsDeal.com is a trusted online store for Genuine OEM Nissan Parts and accessories. We offer fast shipping and wholesale prices. Superb customer service and online inventory make us the #1.
You can put the vin ☝🏽 up there and it will pull exact part numbers with diagrams
Just keep in mind, brand new, this will not be cheap. Might be worth buying used
I’ll check it out in the morning, thank you
Any update?
Brand new from nissan the part is $1600. The car is at most worth $2000 in a private sale and $500 from dealer assuming the diff wasn’t trash. Mom got a new car but a friend of her needs a car as she’s in an emergency. They offered to pay for the part that I originally thought was 650 until I saw it was 1800 and pay me 300 for labor. I personally don’t think it’s worth it especially when the car is worth scrap. I don’t really care how much I get in the ordeal I just don’t wanna screw someone over
If they know someone that can put it in cheap or free, and can get a used differential. It would most definitely be worth it. Given the transmission is fine
I’d be that guy to do it cheap lol
Issue with a used one is it will need new seals and everything
Well depending on how old
