I was working on my car, a 2005 SEAT Ibiza 6L. I was replacing the passanger window mechanism cause the window was falling out.

After i was finished with that i shut the door, and i cant open it. I dissasembled it from the inside, and when i pull on the pulley it opens but doesnt return = lock doesnt un-engage and it doesnt let me open the door again after i lock the door.

Also in the process of me trying to fix it my FOB stopped unlocking, just locking 😭😭

to reset the central locking on this car:
Once the latch is mechanically fixed>

Unlock with the key in the door

Leave key in unlock position for 10 seconds

Lock > unlock manually once

Try FOB again

πŸ‘

#

might be worth doing the reset incase its already fixed

fervent lily
#

Now the door is stuck, i can unlatch it and pull on it with pliers to unstuck it

#

Both from inside and out its stuck btw

warm echo
#

how tight does the cable feel?

fervent lily
#

As in?

warm echo
#

the metal hook, pull on it and see how hard it is to pull

fervent lily
#

Its loose, like i can pull on it side to side

warm echo
#

the cable

#

i mean like can you pull it, like a throttle cable

fervent lily
#

Yeah i think so

#

It can be moved normally

warm echo
#

so when you pull the handle now, that top switch that the cable connects too moves as normL?

#

did you unplug any of the latch mechanisms with the battery still hooked up?

fervent lily
warm echo
#

yea, it will de sync the position from bcms memory

#

do that reset I mentioned

#

Close all doors

Put the key in the affected door

Turn key to UNLOCK

Hold it there for 10–15 seconds

Turn to LOCK

Turn back to UNLOCK

Remove key

Try the FOB

fervent lily
#

Alright

warm echo
#

if that dont work we can try a hard reset then a key fob re sync

This only works if the latch isn’t physically broken yet.

Door OPEN, latch unplugged electrically

Flood latch with penetrating oil (proper stuff)

Use a screwdriver to:

latch it

release it

move lock/unlock cam

Do 40–50 full cycles

Let it sit 10 minutes

Reconnect latch

Test unlock with FOB

If it sticks even once β†’ abort. It will strand you again.

lemme check an 05 golf or jetta

warm echo
#

seems like a botched ass way to try fix it

#

so may be worth just replacing as it is a known fault anyway
