as for difficulty starting it could be a bad battery, a bad alternator, a bad starter, a bad fuel pump/filter, bad injectors or bad spark plugs.

if it drives fine once started then we can rule out everything but the battery and starter.

I’m alone away from home at uni so I don’t really have anyone to help and ofc my car won’t even turn on for me to drive to someone to do that - would you say just buy a new battery and hope for the best?

there's also roadside assistance and towing companies along with mobile mechanics, some are good and others are bad but they're also an option if needed

If the car has sat for a while it doesn't necessarily mean the battery is bad. Some cars pull a little bit of power wether it be a security system or what not so just give it a good 20 min drive when you next can and it will be fine.

i drove it a couple of days ago. i drove it somewhere about 30 min drive and when i first went in it turned on fine, then when i went in the next time (as in to go home) and i turned the key it just didnt turn on and kept doing like the noise it makes before it starts running (sorry for horrible description i know nothing about cars) and then only after turning the key every other min for like 10 min it turned on

no i had that issue before where i left the thing that connects my phone music to the car and it went flat so i make sure i do not leave anything like that on.

yeh idk whats happened because its kinda just started happening and getting worse and worse. at first it didnt turn maybe 2 turns then it started but now... well it completly doesnt even turn on 🙂 ill be honest i dont know what a good battery looks like and i dont know what a terminal is 🙁

Thats fine. By the dash lights you seem to have good power then nothing. Something makes me think either a cell in the battery has died or the terminal has come loose. Checking the terminal is free so I recommend doing that before throwing a new battery at it.

from looking online it says it could be a volage sag (?) because the battery powers everything so when the starter motor was going and not starting its bc the battery powers it (?) and not fully powering the starter motor and turning over. apparently fiestas have a protection where if the voltage is slightly low it wont start so like when i left it a few min and tried turning my key again, the battery has recovered enough to start however now it is fully dead and wont start at all

idk thats what i have kinda understood from what i have looked at... does this sound somewhat right?

Thats what a dead cell is. It will drop voltage then attempt to start again when the cell un dies itself temporarily
