Hey all, I was essentially given an MGA in pieces as there's just no way my grandpa is going to ever work on it and my grandma wanted it gone. The thing is absolutely disassembled but I'm studying engineering right now and the car is so dead simple I shouldn't have too much difficulty with reassembling it and even making new parts and adapters from scratch.
I am looking for help picking a new engine and likely a new trans to drop into it, considering it currently would make 72hp if it ran. TLDR it's about the size and weight of a Miata, so I'd prefer something that's not super heavy. I can stretch the size requirements because I'm going to have to butcher the body anyway with how rusty it is. What I really want is something that is dead simple to buy, install, and work on.
Adapter kit this, adapter kit that... I can make my own stuff on a cnc mill if I need to, but if I ever want to finish this project I need to just start buying stuff an installing it, and I have about zero experience with knowing popular engine/trans combos, although I have heard a complete miata powertrain swap is popular on these. I'm working on the brakes right now but power train is going to come after brakes and after I replace a few suspension bits. It would also be great if the engine is simple electrically because I plan on designing a full wiring and electrical system for this thing myself from the ground up and I'd prefer it to be easy to integrate. I'll attach a few pictures, so far all I've really done is haul it out of the barn and strip parts off of it.
