#KIA Optima 2016 EX - Unsure of which legal in Virginia yellow->white headlights to buy
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Your car came with factory HID or factory halogen bulbs, will be helpful to know which. Any chance you can pull out one of the headlight low beams and post a pic?
Important, don’t touch the bulb with your fingers, use gloves if you can as a precaution
-# Yay another person to blind me 🥳🥳🥳
This will fit
But will random LED car bullshittery happen? Very possibly
Some light controllers on modern cars just reject LEDs even with supposedly glitch free canbus
Can’t post pictures for some reason
Also it’s the middle of the night rn can’t
It’s halogen

Ok so good news bad news. Bad news - what’s legal is either changing the entire headlight assembly with the HID ones, or putting halogen bulbs in them. LED bulbs are, technically speaking, not legal. Good news, replacing halogen bulbs is cheap and easy. Odds are the factory ones have yellowed with time. You can get regular halogen bulbs for decent pricing. Sylvania Silverstars are in theory supposed to be brighter and whiter, but you’ll pay more and the bulbs don’t last. My personal preference Sylvania Xtravision - they are a few lumens brighter than normal but I still get many years out of them, and they’re sold at every parts store. Looks like H7 is your part number for low beams and 9005 for high beams.
Are Sylvania Xtravision yellow or white?
White
Not understanding why there’s a different number for high vs low
Wouldn’t this work? It only says H7 though not 9005 @raven coral
Yep! So there’s four bulbs in total: a pair of h7 bulbs are your low beams, and a pair of 9005 bulbs are your high beams. I’d suggest doing low beams only first, make sure you’re happy with the lighting, before you spend more to also do the high beams.
Alright bet
Right so that one for low and this one for high beams
@raven coral besides that do yk where I can find a replacement for this reflector color or a tint or whatever
I'm not even sure it's called a reflector since when I google that the rear reflectors show up
I’ve heard it called a cornering lens. EBay or a scrapyard is usually a fine place to get a replacement, although yours look undamaged.

it’s chipped 😭 but anyways thanks
Ooooh I see it now. Car-part.com sometimes has reasonable prices too, it’s where salvage yards can sell their stuff online
