looks like its coming from the front. possibly water pump failure
how expensive are we thinking and is this something I could do with minimal experience
I bought the car 5 days ago from the guy and it’s an a6 2011 with 116k km
if you havent worked on a car before i would ask a shop to do that. obv dont take my assumption as a "its definitely this", have it properly diagnosed, but if youre in the US youre looking at a few hundred bucks at the very least
i was told by a fellow mechanic here in canada that it might be a 2000 dollar repair
2000 CAD sounds about right yeah
if its a water pump, that is. hopefully you guys shut the engine off before it overheated
GG @deft kettle, you just advanced to level 26! Chat more to level up and earn top roles!
for just a water pump? all you have to do is drop the bumper ac and rad right like that can take one hour
yes we shut it off immediately and parked it
there was a 500 foot trail of coolant on the road
Failures in these parts cause oil consumption and coolant leaks! Step by step how to on replacing these parts. Every bolt, every connector and some adventures along the way.
Part numbers (for 2010 US model, check with your supplier on correct part numbers for year):
PCV Valve: 06E103547AC
PCV Hose (must be replaced): 06E...
i watched that video and he pulled the supercharger and everything which i’m advised not to do
youre able to do it without pulling the supercharger but generally if its gonna take you 30 minutes to save 90 minutes of fucking around then obviously its better to just bite the bullet and get the supercharger out of the way
had it been a 40 year old car id be more inclined to agree with the "touch as little as possible" mindset
so its definitely possible to do this repair yourself but its a pretty big repair, and its an audi. if i were you id start with easier things first tbh
not worth it to go out there and tear it apart on the side of the road alone?
i could have a tow lined up wednesday and the mechanic look at it that day
if you had done similar jobs before then id say fuck it, knock yourself out. but youre gonna cause yourself major headaches doing this type of job ESPECIALLY roadside. if you want a car you can do engine out jobs on roadside get a subaru with a boxer 4 engine
