Well to start, what car are we working with?
A beautifully totaled c5 vette
What’s the extent of the damage?
Show us some pictures!
Both subframes are shot, multiple cracks in the fiberglass, front end gone, but majority of the frame is straight besides what I’ve shown
Holy Lord! You got yourself a bent frame brotha. You need to address that first before anything else. Body shop may be able to cut, weld, or bend it back into place, but please note your front end integrity is permanently fucked.
The front of that is not a subframe I dont believe? Correct me if Im wrong @cyan ore
I know that, I’ve already measured and we’re 3 inches bent out of wack, the frame shop said it’s repairable as in the straighten the frame and cut and weld the front bar, and I’m not looking for perfection at this point, that’s why I was going to go with a drift build because I’ve been drifting for about 6 years and I know I will crash again
You need that frame addressed before you could safely do anything drift related my guy. I would strongly suggest you fix that front end.
Before anything else.
You got it. Just the frame and their control arm setups and the cool leaf spring
Yeah I thought so. These vettes are unibody, unfortunately.
That is the first thing on the whiteboard is to fix the frame, that’s happening next month
Excellent. Now if you're looking for drift, fuck the fenders. Get a nice metal frame front bumper that keeps the general shape, but no need for anything fancy. Next thing to drift? You got two options. Weld that diff, or LSD.
Funny enough I bought the car with a z06 diff already installed
Hey, wouldn't you know? Now keep in mind you're going to spend a lot on tires
I’m well prepared, I have a guy up in New Hampshire that has tires for 25 a pop
Next thing I'd say is get a good trans tune. Something that keeps low end power and keeps you in gear, assuming this is automatic.
6 speed fiddlestick
This just keeps getting better and better my friend! If you can afford it, short cut gears. Trust me.
At least 1-4 short cut is all you really need.
Those t56s are expensive and I’m just a tree arborist the money isn’t amazing but for the front end would it be in the plan to cut and tube the front?
GG @covert plaza, you just advanced to level 2! Chat more to level up and earn top roles!
Yup! Get a nice tube front going.
Motor has to come out to swap the subframes and I figured while it’s out I’d do a cam and other small mods
New headers and heads a ince I destroyed the last ones and it already has a ls6 manifild
Lmao what do you need my help for? Youve already figured it out
Well I didn’t know if you had any other idea on what else I could do
Get a nice tube front, maybe some carbon fiber clutch discs for you LSD if they're getting old, some nice rear tires and straight cuts if you can afford it
You're good man. Make sure that alignment is straight first and the frame is good.
For my suggestion, two words: Vette Cart
Well I measured with a few different contact points and my frame guy said it’s probably fixable, I was curious to see what I should do with that front end, headlights, rad, fans, clutch needs to be re bled same with brakes once they’re on there
This guy knows ball
That would be insane but my only contingency is that the house you see in the background is getting sold by the end of the year so all of this would need to be done by Decemberish
Get yourself a radiator fan switch, youll thank me later
When you fix the front end
Focus on your life first, and then build that Vette Cart when you have the space
Are we thinking fenders hood and bumper or just leaving it raw like that?
Zip tie some led bars for the Headlights and call it a day?
Nah dude, tube front. Maybe a custom bumper or something
It needs to be street legal ish
Hey if it works it works
Alright thank you, just needed a little reassurance if I can pull this off or not and seems if your confident I’m confident
Only person that can make this happen is you my guy. Read some forums, talk to some people, watch some videos, get that inspiration. Just dont for the love of god put awful camber on it, please.
You got this 👍
Thank you brother, and just a little, I do have a thing for getting pretty sideways
Just a little is fine, but dont push it
Have you thought of turning it into a nascar
Bent frame would help it turn in one direction I'm sure
@mighty sapphire
gurt
Yk if the back end of the car wasn’t perfectly intact this would be the way to go
You might be able to part out the body panels on the back and use that to fund the project
