That is your fuel pump.
For safety it only runs when the engine is on so you usually don’t notice it. But you can sometimes hear it prime when the engine is off.
so the loud pitched noise is the fuel pump then
a friend of mine told me it could be the alternator
No. I think it sounds normal. A bad alternator would either throw error codes or be loud upfront.
yeah the car works perfectly fine, its just the high pitched noise kinda scared me because i bought the car 5 days ago and i dont want the car to be cooked already
Good. Then it’s not a new ”issue”. Probably made that noise when you bought it but you did not notice. I would not worry about it. If it’s coming from underneath the rear seats it’s definitely a fuel pump making the noise. If there is an issue it’s not that expensive to fix.
