So I just now started working on my car and just wanna have fun and keep it maintained and such before I mess with it. I just got new spark plugs and am trying to replace my current ones bc they are pretty old. I am unable to get the coil cover thingies off of them tho because they are pretty last person to put them in stripped it I believe…? They tightened tf outa it and I’m worried about stripping the sockets. Any tips on how I should go about this??

If your socket fits on tight I'd lowkey just crank on it 💀
Usually those aren't ever tight enough to strip
@west vector Would you say this is a pb blaster moment or ugga duhga and hope moment?
i suppose i forgot to mention... its spinning but not coming out
Ok we fucked then
lowkey i wrote this liike a dumbass
Wait is the bolt spinning or the socket?
i love to hear this... so theres like no way to get these off then???
wont this strip the socket tho??
its still in the socket a good amount i believe
i gave each the bolt areas a nice WD 40 bath
If it's spinning you threads are gone bro 💀
BROOOO that means whoever put these in are dumb. ik i didnt pull that hard. all the bolts are 8mm then theres 1 large ass one that looks like 10mm
So no matter how many times you spin in same direction no vertical movement?
correct
Ok you need to pull the bolts out and helicoil the threads
Visegrip the bolt, pull as you spin it out, if that doesn't work you need a slide hammer
Then drill out the stripped threads and helicoil them
Every single one is stripped?
alr ill look up more into this and attempt. Ima end up replacing the coil thingies regaurdless
all of them
You sure there isn't a nut on the other side that is just spinning?
lowkey could be? didnt bother looking below but if thats the case id have no way to access that
You have visegrips?
wouldnt make sense the way its positioned tho. from the videos ive watched they just take off the 1 bolt per
Circle in the image what you'll replace
yea
Ignition coils

I plan to replace 2 of them with the same ones I have
step one tho is somehow getting the infispinning bolt off. im twisting Counter clockwise to no avail
You gotta pull em off 💀
Slide hammer with vise grip
Why?
Also you still gotta helicoil the crapped threads
Maybe try wedging bolt out with a flathead or hammer
they have cracks in the sides. i lowkey would need to show my car instead of stock images... ill have todo this tomorrow
Squirt some water in there to increase spark voltage 😈
seems like a pain in the ass but only way todo this
It's standard practice for half of the bolts you'll find in a car 💀
Buy a metric and sae helicoil kit
hm those tend to run ya?
Damn like $35 each on Amazon?
the small things add up. Never worked on my car till now, jus mechanic.
bet
Oil changes every 5k
