So ive come across this pretty clean BMW 328i Wagon. Seller says its working and running pretty well and no issues seem to unfold. However it does come with a hefty mileage of 198k~ miles, and the price hes selling it for is about $6k. Just need some opinion and advice from BMW guys whether its worth it or not, ill also do a PPI before buying the car ofc.

I plan to use it lightly, not go too far or drive too much, just going college/work and maybe a few car shows, no heavy added mileage. (Ah forgot to mention, im in the US)
Lot of folks probably going to say overpriced, and that may be the case, I’ll leave that to the philosophers. If you really want this to not nickel and dime you, be prepared to spend a few thousand dollars in the first few months of ownership taking care of the ageing components that are about to fail. It’s promising that you don’t intend to put a lot of miles on, but things will fail regardless of that. All of that said, if the owner has service records and there are lots of services in the last few years, that’s helpful. And if you’re willing/capable/interested in doing your own wrench work, and have access to a shop/resources to do so, it is likely a fun car. Just be aware that this isn’t something you can spend six grand on and use it like an appliance.
Yeah, makes a lot of sense. Im definitely not looking at this like its going to be a “sit and forget” type of car, more like something i want to enjoy and take care of. I plan to do a PPI done and ofc ask the seller for service records before making any decisions. Do you think $6k is too steep even with decent record or still high for that 198k miles? Also what would you say are the biggest must do items/maintenance right after buying one of these at that mileage?
Cooling system is going to be the main concern, and you’ll start having issues with bearings and bushings in the suspension if they haven’t started already.
if the 328i wagon has solid maintenance history and the PPI checks out, $6k is a fair price even with 198k miles just be prepared for some upkeep, as high mileage BMWs always need attention.
