#Track & Brake Question

I’ll leave others with more track experience than me to make brake and brake fluid recommendations. That said, those are the first steps: pads/rotors/fluid. The second steps are prepping your cooling system. If you don’t know when the coolant was last changed, now is the time. And if the z4 has that plastic expansion tank like the e39/e46 does, do that too. You want to make sure your cooling system is sorted as you’ll be putting more load on it than it typically sees.
Dot 4 is compatible with dot 3 shit, dot 5 is NOT
I would go with whatever the car manual says
I wouldn't put dot 3 in, on a serious track car
Ah got it, I just had a shop replace my expansion tank with a new one. Unfortuantely that one was plastic too though 😦
Unfortunately, my manual doesn't seem to specify the type 😦
A google search shows low-viscosity DOT4
What other tools would I need to purchase to change the fluid?
Also with regards to the pads, is there a branch or something I should go for?
DOT 5.1 is
It's weird
I see, I found this on fcp euro: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/sl6-brake-fluid-1-liter-ate-sl6#description
Would this be a good kit to purchase for hybrid track/street use?
Yes but most people only need 4
Ah nvm, I'm looking at Motul RBF600
Can i use 5.1 instead of 4
1 liter dot 4 fluid is $7 at walmart
That’s actually fine - you’ll be set. It’s the combination of plastic plus age that leads to failure, so now you’re set for a decade 👍
Ah okay, the car needs DOT4 Low Viscosity, but would the walmart fluid work for track use too?
Cool 😄
idk
if your car calls for dot 4 then use dot 4
high temp brake fluid, do not get drilled rotors but slotted rotors are fine, carbon ceramic pads and get a bbk (big brake kit) of some kind
