Hey everyone, I could use some help getting my ’78 El Camino running again. It has a 350 small block and a TH350 trans. The car’s been sitting for a long time, and some things were disconnected from the motor—wiring, hoses, etc. Right now, it’s not running and I’m trying to figure out what I need to reconnect or replace to get it started again.

@stuck void An off topic warning: Do not touch any mouse nests without gloves, bleach, and a mask.
Review safety procedures for Hantavirus, as it is one of the most deadly out there and spread by mice...
Peace, and BOL!
first thing you want to figure out is if the engine is seized, if the fan is there just grab it and try and spin it counter clockwise, it will be hard enven if it isnt seized, if it moves more than 1/8 turn we are off to a great start
GG @hallow chasm, you just advanced to level 1! Chat more to level up and earn top roles!
I haven’t really touched anything yet but I’ll make sure to be extra careful
Ok
Supposedly it ran not too long ago. My stepdad just unplugged random stuff
You could start with a battery
Word to the wise, miles don’t mean wear, I’ve seen non functional 10,000 miles and pristine 500,000 mile vehicles. It’s good to know that it was running recently tho. A picture of the front of the engine would be helpful, where the belts are on the front
I think I’m either gonna trade it or buy a built 350
You’ll get more for it if it even idles
How long ago? Did he run it until it died/starved of fuel? Most likely will have to remove the carb and clean it.
But for testing purposes of getting the car started, a can of starting fluid should help
This is a 350. Make sure there is oil in it, it has fuel (though the carb may be shot), and a fresh charged battery and you should be ok. Might be some vacuum lines disconnected but once you confirm it fires up you can figure that out slowly
I just listed it on marketplace. If I don’t get any good trades I’ll do that
No way! This is a cool car
How much?
What should I price it?
