have a 2019 acura mdx
vehicle went haywire last night parked outside our home, gauge cluster flicking on and off while vehicle has eng off ign off. pulled codes

the main code i found was b12d3 and many people online are saying its usually an internal fault within the bcm(micu), can someone confirm this or provide the service manual diagnostic steps as my service manual doesnt have it for this code?

And if it does turn out to be the keyless access/tpms control unit, it is located in the dash right above the glove box, and requires removing said glove box, which I can give you instructions for if necessary. @random olive

also a few months ago the cars alarm started randomly going off and all the latches were good, im assuming this is connected to this problem?

austere bane
#

That is certainly possible.

so the code didnt come back, but this car has had the weird issues i mentioned above before in prior months. im thinking that i should just replace the keyless access/tpms control unit for now as its so intermittent

yeah that 'intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time' got a chuckle out of me

i supose its a way to get away with not having to do warranty pay lmao.
"your issue doesnt happen frequently enough so nothing is actually wrong at all"

#

does the manual mention which module this code shows up at all, bc b12d3 showed up in 7 modules before i cleared them

austere bane
#

no, it just specifies the keyless entry module as the sole culprit

gotcha, ok sounds good. thank god i just got my new autel maxisys ultra with the j2354 pass thru to program it otherwise this would be a whole different nightmere lol

#

oh shit nice, thats what I've got at my shop

my boss acidentally took my old zurich tablet scanner and left it on his truck bed and now its somewhere in the middle of long island lmao. so he bought me the ultra as a im sorry gift and told everyone, the 5000 dollar scan tool is for myself and mason(thats me) to use only. 🙂

we also have the passthru but unfortunately you cant program gm modules with the autel because, well, gm

random olive
#

i thought you can use the pass thru with a laptop and you just have to purchase a 1 day key for sps with gm

austere bane
#

wait, you can do that?

random olive
#

yes, thats what the usb cable is also for lol

the pass thru alone is worth 2000 dollars. i spoke with the autel sales team before telling my boss its good to buy

#

they said except for bmw and audi which can be done on your autel device(although i think they are full of shit), you just use a windows laptop and download what ever program you have to use for programming, gm uses sps on windows to program, you pay like 45 bucks for a 1 day license attached to 1 vin and you can program any module in the vehicle with that vin

#

same for ford ids, honda, hyundai, etc

austere bane
#

yeh, rn im dealing with my friend's tcm knocking out the whole can network on his caprice. i think his tune bricked his last module and the new one, since it worked until he flashed it

#

so that is very good to know lol

random olive
#

you only need to purchase the sps2 license

With the maxysis ultra have you guys tried using a 12+8 Chrysler Cable Connector for 2017+ without the subscription for the scanner and Authorization and be able to read codes for and live data?

#

can't access unless I buy the subcription

sorry for the late reply, have i tried the pass thru with the maxysis ultra, no. have i tried the pass thru with my old zurich harbor freight, yes. however, if you have the ultra, id just buy the sga auth license, its only 50 bucks so its not that expensive. one trick i found that worked was to lie about the year of the vehicle and tell the scan tool it was an older version not requiring security auth and it kinda worked for me

#

for reference i did purchase the security auth license and i found it to be worth it, especially for the cheap price of 50 bucks

#

also for reference, you can still read codes without sga and have access to limited live data, just not to special functions or component testing(bi directional functions)

#

but using the pass thru shown above should work ok on the ultra, i havent used the ultra with my pass thru cable yet

The weird thing is, I have bought the autoauth before but it required you to buy the Scanners Subscription
