What could it exactly be though?
And what could’ve caused it?
It’s under warranty, that’s Ford’s problem
Oh for sure but out of curiosity
Since its not a chain or a camshaft could it be a piston ring
The sound is random to my ears, that makes me wonder about foreign material in the intake. Any driveability symptoms, check engine light? What was the exact oil and filter that were used in the oil change and how long ago was it?
Exactly my thoughts, I thought SOMEHOW a small rock or an insect managed to get through the intake filter into the manifold because it does sound like a tiny thing kicking around from the inside, the car has a stock box intake and the filter is green drop in filter
Just to be safe, put the paper air filter back in before you send it in for warranty claim, don’t want to give them an excuse to deny
The oil was 5w30 as recommended and as i’ve always been using as well but the company changed from Shell to Valvoline (changed it after the noise became too concerning around 600km later)
Oh I’ll definitely return everything back to stock before heading to them, glad I haven’t added everything else and tuned it just yet lol
Oh weird, either of those oils should be fine, I doubt any harm done from the oil. I was worried you put some 20w50 in there or something
Oh no
But I’m planning on adding 10w30 instead to check if higher viscosity will lead to the same outcome
If I may suggest, don’t even bother, just let ford deal with it
They’re pretty awful with how they handle warranty here, they’ll keep the car in there for at least two weeks merely to come back and tell me oh yeah the car has an issue
Ah
And then 4 more weeks to fix it
Hell, I had to wait 6 hours at some point for an oil change lol
So lets just say, they’ll try to bore you off so you don’t even bother with demanding the warranty
Aye. On the chance this is a problem that requires engine to be torn down in some manner, the wait will suck but at least you’ll be glad you won’t foot the bill
