I've never seen brown except when there is high rust within the system (and it has been some time since I have even seen that).
Unless you are telling me such color exists, I would recommend the OP have his system flushed (not drained) and new coolant.

So yeah @spice sleet, you've got serious rust inside the system if it is brown.
