#Toyota Aygo X-Cool 2014 - Radio Unit / Bluetooth Pairing Issue [Help]

Hey. Sorry to bother but I'm losing it here.
I have just gotten an Aygo x-cool 2014, radio/unit attached. I'm confident I have the Bluetooth model as it has, both on the wheel and on the unit, the pick up / hang up buttons + when I cycle with the "Mode" button through the various outputs (AM, FM, AUX, Bluetooth) bluetooth shows up as "Device not connected".
As per videos I've seen + the manual itself, I press "Menu" (knob) to enter the main menu, where equalizer, favorite radio stations and clock are, and I highlight "Bluetooth"; I then press "Menu" / The knob again to enter the pairing/BT submenu (To add, view, manage, remove, reset devices) but nothing happens. It just stays there, with "Bluetooth" highlighted.
I've tried doing so with the car moving, not moving, engine on and off, handbrake up and down, with the car in Neutral and Reverse (I have the automatic one) and I have no luck.

Brought it back to the dealership I got it at, they were just as confused as me.
We unplugged the car battery for 10 minutes, so that the unit would reset. It did (we could tell by the clock and radio stations being erased) but still no luck. They want to send me to a Toyota place for diagnostic but it's far as hell.

Any clue why it's not letting me into the pairing menu?
Thank you.

There you go 😦 Thanks for trying..I gave up pretty much by now

does pressing any of the other menu buttons when bluetooth is selected do anything

Unfortunately not. I tried holding them individually, in combo with one another, trying to enter a diagnostic mode by flipping headlights repeatedly. Toyota themselves was like "yeah, idk."

what if you scroll down further

#

to like telephone etc, what does that give you

It just round robins the menu.
TEL just says device not connected. According to the videos that's the submenu for the phonebook to import contacts and call.

Everything about the HU works, just that submenu won't let me in. It feels like a regular software bug but the radio is too old to be acting up in that manner

I've had it in some older ford vans where the bluetooth menu might not well exist because everything is done through the phone section

#

I'm really good at faffing about in menus

I've inspected any accessible nook and cranny in the menu. Sound settings is equalizer, radio is AM/FM favorite stations stuff, BT/Tel are dead ends, Aux On/Off just toggles the aux input from the mode cycle..

yeah thats just annoyinly weird

#

none of the steering wheel buttons do anything?

They do in terms of working , they skip tracks, raise/lower volume, but the call ones don't. The hang-up one acts as a "back" button to back me out of menus. That's about it.

welp, ig your choices are to just swap it out for an aftermarket unit or ball around with toyota to see what they say about it

I brought it to them the other day, they unplugged it , checked if it had some "external bluetooth module" it was missing, and just kinda shrugged and chalked it up to "just a defective unit".
They asked me for 1.6 K (yes, 1600€) for that exact same unit.
I've seen some aftermarket generic brands ones for 2-300 but I'm skeptic about them fitting correctly + finding someone able to do a good job. I'd be content with this one if only it did allow me to connect. It irks me on principle mostly

You can get a 2nd hand one of your unit for €76
