#White smoke more than usual

@wicked shore There is nothing wrong with your car as far as the exhaust is concerned. When you leave a thick white cloud behind you that you cannot see through is when you have serious problem.
My car was atvopersting temp I let it sit for four hours then drove home back from work which is 5min drive back home
I haven’t seen this smoke in a while and was concerned
Can you help me better understand why sometimes it comes out a lot more than usual ?
Combustion creates a lot of water vapor, and exhaust interaction with your local temps and relative humidity makes the vapor more visible.
So that was normal for this weather and despite driving it for five mins from work and back after a four hour shift ?
I should only be concerned when it’s thicker and what else
It is normal, yes. Especially for short drives.
This is different than thick white smoke (which is also steam) which normally indicates a head gasket issue.
So along as it’s not a dif color or super thick white smoke that’s ok and I’m in the clear ?
Correct. You can have 3 different colors of exhaust smoke in the "Oh crap" area. Thick white being the one to take note of as critical. Blue is burning oil, black is a overly rich mixture.
So I’m in the clear and will. Tell the difference between if I’m ficked or not
Your good to go, although I will say that daily short drives are the hardest thing you can do to an engine. Knowing that, change your oil frequently (about every 3000 miles).
Thank you. That’s good to know for my 18 year old car the oil is dark but not too dark it’s been about 3k miles since I bought the car so ya I think it’s time to do my own oil change in the coming month
Also how would short drives and oil changes affect the car
Failing to bring the engine up to full operating temperatures leaves moisture and condensation inside the block rather than burning it off.
Also note that near all manufacturers warn of this, and it moves the vehicle into the "Extreme Use" category. So do driving in extreme heat, driving in extreme cold, driving in a dusty environment, and driving in stop and go traffic.
That will always dictate more frequent oil changes.
Thanks for your help today I always appreciate it!
