Better picture
Not my exact car, just a google pic. But that position looks similiar to mine.
@loud torrent do you have a 12v or 16v?
This is an O2 sensor wire btw
16v
oh
@loud torrent It will be at the back (drivers side) of your engine, ignition coils/throttle body area
The ignition coils are on the passenger side
I got the new sensor coming today, hopefully fixes the problem.
Ill try and find the sensor location
Would I need to drain the coolant?
Yes, if you don’t want to make a mess
Bruh
If there is enough room and you’re fast, you can just quickly swap it and only spill a little
Here’s a pic I found
It’s just a diagram, and it’s not exclusively talking about the temp sensor in that pic unfortunately
GG @livid phoenix, you just advanced to level 6! Chat more to level up and earn top roles!
I’m trying to find a better pic
Im tryna think where this is lol, hard to tell.
Bro
Its at the back?? or the side?
Because idk how easy access this will be tbh
Might be the wrong engine in that pic
This is mine
But it’s at the back right if you’re looking from the front (I think, had looking on the internet like you were saying)
G4EC
Diff car, but ill check here.
Just above the alternator maybe
Ill go look for a wiring to a sensor rq
Can't see it
All the plugs I could find
It should go into the head, so see if you can find a wire coming from the head at the back (passenger side) of the engine
Could be down there actually
But the wire on this one isnt that long, so idk where it will be
@loud torrent
I went through so many websites selling these damn heads, to find one with the sensor in place
There you go 😆
Do u got more angles so I can try and judge where this is?
So around the left (back of your engine bay) of the engine
?
Oh
The shiny bit of aluminum I pointed to in both pics is the same piece
This is the intake side of your head, the sensor is on the left in this pic
Yes
This might be interesting to replace
So prob best to drain my coolant?
Yes, not going to be a quick remove and immediately screw the new one in situation
Might just replace it too then
Even though I replaced 1 year ago, saves it getting dirty.
I used this last time, do I need to put 6.5L and idk why it says "Total flush required"
Drain your coolant till it stops coming out, do your repair, and then add it back till the cold full mark, turn the heat on and burp the system, add more if needed
Cold full mark?
Dunno what it’s talking about total flush
I dont have a coolant bottle thing
Also, you most definitely don’t need that expensive coolant
Oh, just fill it to whatever you did last time then
Did you fill to a mark or did you add a specific amount
Mechanic did last time, since they had to replace all my belts.
Gotcha
See what your manual says about it
That thing must have an expansion tank somewhere
Idk if I trust this coolant
Manual says look on the side of the reservoir/expansion tank
There should be markings
Oh
Oz?
SCA is supercheapauto.
I mean where are you at
Idk if I trust a store brand coolant though
Feel free to do whatever makes you comfortable, but I think it’s fine
I use the US equivalent of this stuff in my vehicles usually, it’s like $18AUS
I mean, and with no offence, it’s a Hyundai Getz, it won’t care what you put in it to be frank 😆
👍
Better that than be someone who never changes anything
Yeah
But yes that is wild wow
This is why I dont use store brands 💀
Ok I’ve never been faced with the situation where the US stuff is just better, but maybe it’s just better 🤣 you make your own call lol
I trust my American stuff but that Oz stuff seems to be weird
Here’s the listing that had the good pictures, if you want to scroll through for your reference https://www.b-parts.com/auto-parts/engine-transmission/cylinder-head-hyundai-accent-i-x-3-15-i-12v-2210026020-1994-1995-1996-1997-1998-1999-2000-2001-2002-10979128#
You’re welcome, good luck man
You’re welcome, hopefully some of my rambling was of assistance
Havent overheated so should be ight
If that’s what it takes for it to not turn blue 😆
Well now I know where the sensor is sorta, and now I wanna buy a new car.
Everything on this car is hard to get to I swear lol
You need a Volvo 940
Volvo?
Not with the white block (6cyl), but the red block (4cyl)
Yessir
Never heard of a volvo
Shitty Swedish cars im addicted to
They are easy to work on and have good access to everything
Atleast u dont have a plastic cover, blocking half the stuff u gotta access
Exactly
Reading a workshop manual rn
Says you drop the whole front subframe with the engine and transaxle
Mechanic said they gotta drop the gearbox so idk
Also what do u mean when u said I gotta burp the coolant?
When you drain the coolant and re fill, sometimes air gets trapped
Isnt that running the engine with coolant in a funnel letting the bubbles escape?
So you turn the heat on full, either drive or bounce the car
My heat dont work
Gotta get the AC regassed lol
Personally I just fill the reservoir and then burp, add as needed. Although with an especially small reservoir you may need to do the funnel thing
Like at all, no warm air?
I heard u can buy a fancy funnel that screws onto the cap thing, and with it running let bubbles come out and then plug it when it stops?
Maybe some? I mean the ac blows a little cold air
AC gotta get regas fr
I mean heat, the thing you normally don’t want down there I assume
The red, the warm
Gotta turn that sucker on and burp the system
Also the switch is kinda stuck
I removed the front cover when I upgraded my radio, now the switch only goes halfway on red
You wouldn’t do that in this application, just fill the reservoir to the max/full marking and then add as needed
Oh
(As you are burping)
So maybe buy 2 bottles of coolant?
Maybe, just to have.
GG @livid phoenix, you just advanced to level 7! Chat more to level up and earn top roles!
Your experience will probably be you add say 4L then it says it’s full, you burp it, then add another 1L or something and it’s full again
Numbers just for example
Some cars trap a lot more air than others, really depends on cooling system design
I should be fine to use the 5L bottle, and if it needs more I can surely drive to the store to get more?
Yeah, or just use some of what you drained out
Let me find the coolant capacity
Pretty sure 6.5
Says 5.5
Oh
Prob best to just use new coolant yeah?
Just buy 10L, you should really have some coolant laying around
To be safe, really depends how cheap you need to be
I have in dire times just filtered all my coolant and put back in after doing something that I needed to drain it for
I might just buy 5L and if I need more ill drive there and top it up
If it's 5.5L total
I’d say if you need more after that 5L just top it off with what you drained, seeing it’s relatively recent
But of course do as you please
Just my penny pinching habits
Will it be fine to use? I normally drain into my oil pan but I do clean the pan with water so should be fine right?
I would use a different pan or just get new coolant.
Unless you get that thing sparkling clean
hm
I might buy a second drain pan, if the 5L aint enough ill use some of the old stuff
Its like a year old so shouldnt be bad?
Should be just fine
I like to use paint filters for this job
Those cone filters
Just to make sure no junk gets back in when re using coolant
These?
Yeah
Prob dumb question, but what if I drained the coolant partially?
Or would that not work, idk if not ill just drain and replace it all.
As long as it’s below the sensor you’re fine
I should have said that earlier
How do I know if its below the sensor?
Alright
That should be plenty
Might drain 50% and that should be good
