I added 6qrts to my trans fill because it was super dry I added until it started dribbling so that means I’m good. I drive it and see puddles of fluid all over my driveway and engine bay. Idk what the fuck is going on I have some pictures

Did you drain and refill it?
no i added 6qrts
and on the last qrt of fluid it started dribbling telling me its at the fill mark
i dont have a dipstick i have a 2007 lexus es 350
Transmission fluid everywhere 2007 lexus es 350
That's massively overfilled
the real question is do i continute driving it wht do i do its smoking
Don't drive it anymore until you drain it and put the correct amount in
the car wouldnt want to take 6qrts if it didnt need it. it was low so i added
if 6qrts was alot then why did it take so much before indicating it was full
i have to drive it back to my schools auto shop. the question is will i fuck it up big time its a 8min drive
Was the car running when you did this
yes the car was running and at op tempt when adding all the fluid
dude im lowkey scared now idk wht to do did i just fuck my whole car up
i just added wht it needed i dont see how this is happening rn idk wht to do
Was it leaking before
no
but it gets me thinking maybe because it was 6 quarts low and now that i filled it all that new pressure is opening those cracks in the hose if theres any causing it to go all over my engine bay
If you had no fluid then the car would not move
i had fluid so my car takes like 11-11.5 qrtz of trans fluid i was 5.5-6 qrts low
the car will ovb still run but it was slipping wich i noticed so i added the fluid untill it started slighty coming out thye fill plug
thats what i thought to but then why would it take 6qrts to indicate it was full
@tame creek we need ur helop
he is a mechanic or really good with trans?
He used to work at a transmission shop
oh thts good
Yeah this is tremendously overfilled. As a comparison point I add 2.5-3qts before I even start checking for the fill, usually tops off at like 4 or 5 max
I can’t say those numbers off the top of my head but there’s no way in HELL that thing takes 11 quarts, that’s like 6-7 max
Are you sure this was the correct check plug and not the fill plug
Some Toyotas there is a second bolt on the transmission pan that basically is a stick that runs up into the pan, the bolt on the housing where a check plug would normally be is not it, that’s the fill
Also, please contextualize these pictures, no idea what I’m looking at
Do I drive the car bad to my autos shop and drain the fluid or is the damage all ready done. Or will it mess up if I keep driving
The one picture there’s a puddle of fluid in the bottom
Yes correct fill plug
@tame creek I just took 3-4 qrts out the car
What’s my next plan. Is it safe to drive now for another few days Monday I have an appointment with the car care but guy
Did you run it through the gears after filling it
11 quarts. Wow. I hope you didn’t damage anything Soap.
I doubt it I drove 5miles on it
Yes I’m gonna do the proper procedure tonight
That’s doesn’t matter. Pressure builds up as soon as your start the car
The drive line isn’t moving but the pumps in the trans are
Did you let it run at operating temp first then open the overfill plug? For my RC 350 I did the drain and fill.
Drain
Fill
While idle
Check temp and open overflow drain
Cycle thru the gears around 3 seconds each
Complete
Also how did you know if the transmission was dry if Lexus uses a sealed transmission given it wasn’t leaking prior
I’m gonna do it right now
I’ll let you know how it goes
Long story
i skippex the overflow plug like i said first time doing it and fucked up ima try to do it right tmr
