Yep, this is happening if the clutch is not fully disengaging as much as it needs to to get past the shift lockout. Start with new clutch fluid, cheapest and easiest thing to do, as it’s possible air or moisture-logged fluid is causing this.

Sadly, a three decade old DSM isn’t a great vehicle for the sentiment “I’m tired of fixing something on this car only for something else to go wrong” these things are great but at this point the only way you could reasonably expect to drive one problem free is if you replaced everything rubber, everything plastic, and every wear & tire item. Which is honestly a project that is worth doing, IMHO, but you need another daily, shop space, parts $$$, etc.

Yeah, I’ve replaced countless things so far, totaling well over $1,000. If I had the money I would absolutely redo the entire car, and maybe even do a drivetrain and engine swap (There’s no GSX within reasonable distance or price near me) but so far it’s like every time one thing gets fixed, something else goes bad shortly after lmao

Is it just stiff or can you feel the gears mashing in the stick?

Appreciate the help. I replaced the master cylinder and the slave cylinder and now it shifts even smoother than it did before!
