@agile crypt
Ironic just as im talking about a 944 lol
Supercharging the 1.8 is interesting
Not sure how much power you can get out of those
No those Porsche all came with 2.0l and bigger displacement
I think you're confusing a common swap with them, which is a 1.8t engine from Audi
Those are much better engines than the previous Audi engine they have
It's a bolt on swap, and you can go well above 200hp with them
I have a much wilder engine swap in mind for mine, it's just that I want to get the collector car licence plate first, meaning the car has to run and be stock, and I have lots of supports mods to install (better brakes, better suspension, etc) before thinking about making a swap
my target horsepower with mine is about 180-200hp
Engine and transaxle stock can support 240hp
But the flywheel disintegrate at 200hp, soooooooooooooooo
I'm 99% they're all 2.0L
US version is detuned tho, so they're like, really, really underpowered to match emission standard
Yeah they're VW-Audi group engine
Basically Porsche was working on their own car built from scratch (not like the 911 which was based on the beetle), and that was the 928
At the same time VW-Audi group wanted a new sports car, so Porsche designed the 924 inspired from the 928 using VW-Audi parts
Then the Auto union found it was too expensive, so Porsche got to sell the 924 as their car
Later variants got their own Porsche part, like the half-V8 engine and performance transaxle
I could have sworn we had a 1.8 rubbish engine, could be wrong, never looked much into the 924
Mostly stuck to the 2.5 Porsche engine
UPDATE
Turns out the wiring in my car has been widely modified, so I'm gonna try looking for a 924 owner in my area, see if someone can help me compare OEM wiring with what the fuck has been done to my car
New update
GG @queen plover, you just advanced to level 5! Chat more to level up and earn top roles!
I broke the injector cables, gonn delay things a lil
definitely running in January (I said it would be running in june 24 in march 24)
Okay so
I ordered carbon fiber fuel lines
They're being built
I'll get them in 2 to 3 weeks
Update
I was on a trip so I couldn't work on it
Fuel lines look wicked
but there's a fuel leak before the K-Jet so I can't do anything before I receive a new o-rings
I went to several shops and none had it
Show us some
Yes, so the engine runs etc, just need to fix the wiring and that part is done
next is the brakes, as the front calipers are, 🥁 in my room, and the rear drums is locked tight by a castle nut
anyway, after I fix the interior, and then, MOT
They look good
I am rebuilding the interior, car looks soo good now that the carpet and seats are back
only issue is that I snapped the thermostat housing so I can't move or start the engine now
Radiator blew up
Update
So I brought the car to the MOT but a coolant pipe wasn't plugged and it popped
So couldn't pass
Then it wouldn't start no more
Cooked the ignition coil (didn't use a ballast resistor)
And while towing it
The towing out broke so the towing bar went into the radiator
Anyway anyhow
Ordered new parts. Will pass inspection next month
Damn
It's getting a Pertronix flamethrower 3.0Ω and a 944 all aluminium radiator
That bad boi is gonna push it
Have to install the radiator with an angle otherwise it sits too low
One bad speed bump and it's gone

is it ever possible to bring this on the street with those headlights like as a daily
What do you mean? As long as they work I think it's legal
The car needs to have everything working from factory
While I don't have a passenger side mirror or rear seatbelts from factory, it won't stop me from passing inspection
Now, while the pop-up headlights are basically forbidden for new cars, mine is exempted from that since it came from factory
nice project car
Would the only long term solution for it to be replaced?
Since I had to replace starter and alternator wiring
I swapped right away a new Ridex alternator with more ah.
However it had severe belt slipped and left me stranded once (belt not tightened enough because of the bolt, t'was stripped)
So I put the old one back in, but it has an intermittent belt slip. I believe its bearing is dead
So I reinstalled the Ridex one with a new belt and new bolt, but the battery ain't charging
I used multimeter to check all its components and, maybe the rectifier is a bit worn but nothing crazy
Because that time it left me stranded I had to jump start the battery twice, and that now the battery resting voltage is below 12V, and that it never charges past 12.5V, I believe it's dead
It's my only hope. Otherwise I'll try doing some Frankenstein and rebuild the alternator with the other's components
I have the inspection the 14/10 and I won't receive a new alternator till then
I’m not a very mechanical person, but I feel it
I'm going to test another battery
We'll see 🤞
Just tested the battery
It ain't that
I fixed my 924
I had forgot to install :
- alternator - battery cables (I only had alternator - starter - battery)
And the new belt I ordered was too long, it wouldn't tighten properly. It's the OEM size but the pulley on the new alternator was a bit smaller, so
Add to that the tensioning bolt had broken threads, so it was loosing tension
Bunch of issues that added one to one scared me a lot but now it's all good, just need a new belt and it's all good
hell yeah
Love the worn paint. Looks cool to see a beat-up 924 like that.
The first picture looks straight out of a film
that's a super nice thing to say thank you very much
my friend filmed with a video recorder, like with tape and everything, I gotta ask him for some of the shots
ngl that Miata was fast as fuck in the turns, crazy what good suspension can do
924 was faster in the straight tho, not that hard against a miata lol
I appreciate how detailed/descriptive you are (I know not a lot about cars) reading this thread has taught me a lot so far! Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
My pleasure bro I wanted to make some resources about cars but never went through it
If you have any questions hit me up
My goal is to get this car going the cheapest way possible
So far I'm about
1800€ for the car
