Realistically what’s the worse that happens if I ignore it for a week while I wait on a new hose to come in
Teflon tape is a lubricant not a sealant.
Worst think that could happen is that the pipe bursts and leaves you stranded or you run out of coolant and blow the engine.
Not trying to be an ass, how is tape that literally is made to seal pipes together a lubricant not a sealant
GG @worn bobcat, you just advanced to level 7! Chat more to level up and earn top roles!
Nuh uh. It lubricates the threads in the connection and allowing the two pieces to be screwed deeper together. Threads in plumbing are intentionally a bit out of skewed so they dont loosen over time and thus require a lot of force to screw on all the way. Teflon tape helps with reaching that force.
It does nothing with the actual sealing
Also dont know how its even supposed to work in this situation becaue teflon tape is not sticky. Are you going to wrap it and tie a knot?
I was planning on wrapping it in teflon since and then wrapping the teflon in an actually sticky tape like flex seal then clamping over that
not gonna work. Your best bet is silicone or epoxy
Is that even worth the trouble or should I just wait for the new hose
its less effort than a teflon mummy
