#bad caliper?

Your parking brakes more than likely go to a drum/rotor set up in the rear of the car. Which has nothing to do with the caliper
But it looks like you’re at the tail end of your brake pads.
Post some more pictures so that we can make an assessment.
It's the rear caliper, in this picture. It was also the same side that was sticking my ebrake. I have a 2013 civic Si
What kind of other photos? Sorry. I have a photo of my opposing side though. I'm not really sure
I don't know much, just the basics.
This is my rear caliper sorry I didn't disclose
I thought my ebrake is connected to my caliper as what i've read and been told though?
Your parking brake is connected to to a cable
That goes to your rear drums
Of your rear brakes
I have rear discs I thought not drums
You have both
& Im super certain my ebrake cable goes to my rear calipers (in a basic general term.)
Sorry, I've just been told that by my mechanic and google also says the same
I don't mean you say you’re wrong or anything
I just don't understand lol
What size engine?
And typically your cars parking brake hand goes to a cable that’s connected to drum shoes that are in the drums of the rear rotors
2.4 so it's the 2013 Si
Yes something along there
I'm not worried about my ebrake really, as it holds just fine. It's just the fact I had problems once with it, and then now my pad is basically gone while the other side still has life left
So i'm thinking my caliper might be bad. Honeslty it doesn't even really matter cause I will find out Monday, but I'm just curious on how to learn to be able to tell.
Ok so it seems your cable goes to your caliper
Yes
Based on pictures of the caliper of the SI
Yes i know for sure the ebrake is housed in the caliper
Parking brake lol
So if your cable is pulling your caliper closed, it could be dragging your pads
I just say ebrake, lol , parking brake whatever you wanna call it
Hmm. That makes sense I guess
But your pads look toast
Cause like I mentioned before the mechanic said it's only releasing about 90-95% that it should be
The first pic is BAD lol, it squeals real loud
I still think my other pad has a some life left though
Probably will end up replacing them anyways but I want to know how to determine if that makes sense
I had no idea my pad was going bad or anything because the car doesn't shake upon hard braking, doesn't make any noise, no smell, etc. Just randomly started screaming non stop. So i had no idea lol
I would take the brakes off and see what the caliper really looks like. Maybe even take the caliper off and examine it. Might be seized and either needs a rebuild or a replacement
If you have determined the cable is not pulling on the brakes. That’s easy though check to see how taught the cable is
Or disconnect the cable on a end that is easy so that you know for a fact that it is not pulling
