Cheap sports cars still exist! We put our two long term cars against the ones we didn't chose: Mazda Miata, Pontiac Solstice, BMW Z3, Nissan 350z, Porsche Boxster, and Toyota MR2. In order to be included here these cars had to meet the same requirements we had when shopping:

Albeit it seems like a cool and interesting YT channel, I personally dont find any of those cars visually appealing at all, and dont know much about many of those brands. Any other recommendations?

And as you don’t find appeal in most of those, I gather that two door cars in general are maybe not your thing? Or, maybe convertibles are what are putting you off?
Convertibles generally speaking arent my thing, I personally prefer coupes but I know that sedans typically have a much more robust aftermarket for cosmetic modifications, so either or.

So, mazdaSpeed6 has always been an interesting car - just service the cooling system if you pick one up.
Alternately, Fiesta ST is a solid contender

from "very reliable" to "ruined my life" and idk which one is more valid
Yeah and at the age they are now, gotta be serviced properly. I look at that kind of thing as an opportunity to wrench and bring something to life, but I understand not everyone is interested in wrenching
