During the winter time, my dad and I, had received a free car, this being the ford but it won't shift even after recently coating it in oil and blasting it with pvblast, does anyone know why it may not be shifting?

#

Also it's been sitting for 15 years

Won’t shift - I take this to mean the shift lever won’t move?

It's rock solid when you try to put it into gear

#

Doesn't even try to get into gear

#

All the fluids are good though

So you can move the lever forward and back, up and down, but when you try to slot it into the D position it won’t go?

Look on the side of the transmission where the shift selector mechanism is. Have helper try to shift it while you watch the mechanism. Could be a cable problem or a mechanism/lever problem

I'm also gonna take apart the steering wheel

Yeah I’d bet it will be super obvious once you get eyes on it - plate or lever is just stuck maybe

It's a column shifter

Yes: I’m thinking in contexts of the lever on the transmission that moves/actuates the shift selected mechanism

#

I don’t expect your problem is in the steering column or with the lever in the car

#

Since that does move freely

You probably are right

#

I wanna jack it up and test it by hand

Also, cool project! Love the turbine wheels

It has all the power stuff in it

#

Rather than a normal grand Marquis, this has all the premium options you could get

lofty gust

Even better! Thats awesome. It’ll float down the road once you get it driving

Not air ride

#

It has the mechanical engineered suspension

#

Even after 15 years, everything works in it

Yeah it’s coil springs - if they still make them, TRW made progressive rate springs for the rear that are actually a significant upgrade from the OEm linear springs

Including the power antenna
