Hey I have a 2017 Camaro SS so yesterday I was driving back home and it said idle engine, engine overheating so I did that and then took it home. This morning I drove to get coolant and put it in the car. So I thought it was good, even had the guy do an error check to see if there are any errors within the system and there were no errors. So hours later I was driving and 15 minutes in it said the same thing so I pulled over and waited and then when I started it again it didn’t start at all, it sounds like the video below (I recorded about 5-10 seconds after I start it)

When it overheated the first time, how quickly did you pull over and shut it off? Any chance you notice if you’ve left a puddle of coolant?
There’s a good chance this is some proper damage, the car needs a compression check and cooling system pressure test. Then we go from there.
Sorry OP, this car is most likely toast
I hope I’m not cooked frfr
Noo
The first time, yesterday it was immediately and this time I was on the freeway so I took the next exit which was about 5-7 minutes
Yes there was a puddle of coolant both times leaking from the driver side of the car behind the tire kind of
Gonzo is spot on, this is bad news. Next steps are some engine diagnosis to determine what failed and how, and that will drive what needs done. A compression check is in order, at a minimum.
Coolant overflow is not on the driver's side either
What do you think is worth saving it and not saving it? Like how much money should I spend max
I’m saying like $7k max but idk I’m just not too good with cars
Get a value from kbb.com to have a rough estimate of the car’s value. Usually people figure if cost of repair is greater than half the value of the car, that’s too much. But obviously there’s more to it than that - if the car is special to you for some reason, or if it had existing issues/concerns, or if replacing it would be difficult, etc.
If it’s a case where you’re looking at motor rebuild or replacement, there’s also something to be said for looking at doing a high performance rebuild. May as well get a horsepower boost if you’re doing a bunch of work.
For sure, if there was anytime to add some money into your car for power, now is the time.
Thank you guys so much @hoary glen @old seal @upbeat slate
So the problem was just the coolant leak, I guess the car broke down to stop the engine from being done
So all they did was replace the coolant tubes or something like that and an oil change everything works now!!
It was like $750 to repair, better then a whole new engine
Cool! Glad it worked out!
And this is one of those cases I’m genuinely glad to have been incorrect 😆
Well it is kind of hard with the amount of details I gave
Wow that seems easy enough. Didn’t know such a feature existed. Good deal!
