Last February I picked up a 1970 GTO for 19.5k, I had it for a few months and enjoyed driving it around town. I started to enjoy it as a daily vehicle but suddenly it decided to seize up on me while cruising on the highway, When I popped open the engine to take a look I soon discovered that the Original Cast Pistons decided to shatter into large chunks but it thankfully left all cylinder walls untouched. I'm planning to throw a LS3 in the GTO for the moment while I keep its original engine on the side to be sent to a machine shop. Afterwards I plan on replacing all cast internals with forged internals(on the 400)

ooo love that color
That’s amazing
Build a 400 not ls that’s lame
Or get a butler kit for the 400
nice wheels
I agree.
I am building a 400..
The LS is the motor that I'd have for when I'm dailying it.
The 400 is going to be built on the side since it exploded on me
don't put an ls in it pls
ls motors are too basic
plus it's worth more with the 400 if it's numbers matching
I completely agree.
Why not have both?
One to have a good daily driver and another to have a numbers matching car right?
He’s not gonna buy a second car I’m almost certain
don’t put a ls in it please 🙏
Yeah
epic
Make the 400 the most gas guzzling, scariest piece of machinery that any gto has ever seen
Thursday I'm dropping off the engine at a shop to have it rebuilt, they are charging me $2000.. They told me the price is so low for the rebuild since I already tore the engine down for them.
So It may end up back on the road within a month or two
Yo this thing is awesome
def the best method, mine was 1500 with rebuild and bore cause it was already torn down
Just curious you know how much is involved in doing an LS swap on that because I’m doing one to my c10 when I can because I currently daily with a 350sbc getting around 19mph but I have to change the motor mounts’Trans cross member mounts’ Driveshaft’ Wiring harness’ and there’s a few more things I believe
Commas go at the bottom; you used apostrophes.
I totally agree it was late so I didn’t care much lol
Yep its a lot of work.. I know a guy he'll install an LS start to finish including the harness and crossmember for $500
That’s including materials? Or just labor
Labor
That’s not bad at all
Kits are cheap though
What drives you away from doing it your self?
Very time consuming especially since I haven't ever done that type of job.
I'd rather spend the $500 to have it get done
So you're going to LS-swap it, rebuild the original engine, then un-LS-swap it, redoing all the mounts and stuff??
Probably not going to after he does it he will get hooked on the LS lol
Yeah, I know.
That's pretty much the plan
If you say so...
at that point just keep the ls inside
A GTO, I love those cars
😻
