#uk car insuance

from what I've heard it's beneficial to get an older more common car that'll be cheap to repair and easy to source parts for, also something with low power and comparing your options possibly trying to push the price down with the insurance provider via conversation.
in some cases you can make it cheaper by having a parent be the main driver and yourself insured as a secondary driver.
honestly UK insurance is just completely fucked so be ready to fight for a good rate and even then they'll probably be screwing you over until you're older
Ah okay tysm, done a Quote on a 1.8 civic with 2 named drivers. 1k weirdly enough
keep in mind that having multiple people on a car depending on the people can also bring the rates up.
if they for example have a history of accidents, insurance claims or not a long history
but yea 1K yearly sounds about right for the UK, in fact it's on the low side of some numbers I've heard
Yea both got no claims or anything, one 25+ years driving, one 13 years driving
There’s an age threshold where once you go above the prices start rising instead of falling.
Also don’t put someone on your insurance as the main driver if they don’t live with you etc. asking to get checked (insurance fraud worst case) and also won’t pay out if it gets vandalised or hit even if you’re not at fault
Insurers are thriving bastards, seen a quote from LV for £40k on a £3k car, so they essentially expect the driver to write it off 13.3 times a year 😂
Driveway, private work parking, take commuting off if you’re not only commuting in it. If you really want to scrape it, don’t bother with no claims protection if you’re 1-2 years in, but definitely cough up the extra if you’re at 4 years. (Quite a few insurers NCD’s reduce costs every 5).
Price comparison sites give you an indication, but make sure you call to get a quote and speak to a human (not some AI chat bot) chances are if you present yourself well and tell them you’ve priced less elsewhere, they’ll bring it down slightly as regardless of price they want your business.
GG @north jungle, you just advanced to level 6! Chat more to level up and earn top roles!
Finally, if you’re getting a cheaper runaround, just bite the bullet and get a black box. It’s a cheap way into your own policy and getting ‘on the ladder’.
I would recommend ‘marmalade’. Reasonable prices no curfews (so you can still go out late see friends go to the shop or whatever without it affecting your policy) and don’t think they monitor speed either just excessive braking and cornering G’s. Which means you can dance around the speed limit and as long as you’re not doing a stupid speed you’ll be fine. Used to work on a weekly basis so as long as you’re not persistently driving like an idiot, you should be absolutely fine.
@tall trench hopefully that’s enough to get your started 😂
I've stated they don't live with me but my mum live with me ect

Yea unfortunately can't get a blackbox due to the job I live it got to work morning and nights so it'll show up as a red flag
Did you finish reading that message? Already found you a solution 👍
Yea wanna try away from a blackbox as people ik have problems with it
