so I recently had my front end rust repaired which required pulling the suspension out and now there's a weird clunk in the front end, was curious on if anyone might have an idea of what it is before I start tearing into it to figure it out.
current theory is that either the strut is loose or worn causing the clunk when going over bumps.
the issue appears to be coming mostly from the front left of the car and there isn't any visible play that can be felt when trying to feel around the suspension or shaking the car but I've not had it jacked up yet.
model is a 2005 Opel Zafira A facelift.

sound is most audible at lower speeds, between 10kmh and 45kmh largely going away at higher speeds as shown in the last 2 videos hitting some severe bumps at 80kmh
Stop hitting potholes, but seriously how'd your ball joints
no idea XD
also I specifically aimed for those manholes to show the sound.
so far I've had people suggest I check the strut as I suspected but also the sway end links.
as for ball joints, how would I check those?
Designed to allow the suspension to move up and down, and the wheels to turn left and right, keeping your ball joints in proper working order is crucial to a vehicle’s overall performance. cheers, I'm planning to jack the car up later to check the sway links so I'll check the ball joints while it's up and get back on it
Devil, if you can, get the car on jackstands and then use the jack to raise the control arm on each side as you check for play: that way the suspension geometry is close to “ride height” while you’re troubleshooting, and it’s not at full droop
I would if I could but my jack and jackstands don't go high enough to let me do something like that safely and stabely.
I think I'll have to invest in some proper jack stands and a proper jack
I did manage to jack it up just barely enough to get the tires off the ground which let me check the sway bar end links, give the tire some movement to check the balljoints and have a look if anything was visably wrong but no luck
My control arms clunk on the 03 silverado because I was being cheap, original control arms but replaced ballpoint, you can feel it in the steering when it clunks
Can you get an advance on the mod salary for a jack and jack stands? I jest, of course, but those are definitely key components for this kind of thing
yea, we've been needing to upgrade our selection of tools for a while but just haven't had the money for it.
but seems it's time to bite the bullet at least on the jack and jackstand front
