#I have a 10th gen Honda civic and I’m looking into getting a better intake.

Stock. Everything else will lose power unless you tune the ecu for it.
Unless you do it for sound. Then a short ram will sound neat.
I was looking into the cobra cold air intake which says it still gives and increase in performance without a tune?
Is this just the case with most intakes?
Its the case with almost all intakes because the stock intake has a tuned resonance to increase flow. With very few expiations modifying the intake on a stock car will not net any power gains and usually a marginal loss. The manufacturer wants to sell the intake and have an incentive to bullshit the power gains. Especially when the gains are so small its basically within the margin of error.
Well in that case what would be a good upgrade to start off with that would give some performance without a tune?
If you start to modify the engine to a noticeable increase in power output then a good intake is a good idea. Stock car with a ECU flash tune: Not worth it.
I heard that tunes could impact the car’s reliability, is that true too?
I really want to be safe when it comes to anything with the car
Complete depends on the tune.
Enjoy it as it is.
And when time comes for new tires get some sporier tires.
