#caliper(?) grinding against inside of tire, and wheel wiggles when holding 3 and 9 positions

Front wheel? Likely a tie rod end has play, for that side to side motion. For that caliper, you likely have a missing caliper mounting bolt or bolts. This is a “do not drive until it is fixed” kind of problem. Show us a photo of the back of your brake caliper, from the inside looking out, please.
Year make model too please
I can try to do that pic but cant take wheel off. My sockets are in a family members truck and i have no lug wrench for some reason

Ok cool, no worries but at least a pic to confirm the mounting of that caliper
Hi
Welp, right from the thumbnail id say youre right sir
Nice! Glad you caught it now rather than later. Good news, fairly common part, high probability your local parts store has them on the shelf
So the rocking tire, thats most likely a tie rod? Initial thought without looking at anything was ball joints but i dont see any bad play there
Tie rod end is suspect. re-create that 3-9 rocking test and video the tie rod end, you should see the play.
Outer tie rod end that is
So someone yesterday recommended a video to me from Chrisfix(of course) and in it he said to put a crow bar under the tire while its jacked up and see if the tire has any play which is also in this video im sending so im not sure if thats a separate issue
Holy cow that whole tie rod is moving. Is your steering wheel moving when you shake the wheel like that?
I didnt have a chance to take a look but i can if pertinent
GG @urban apex, you just advanced to level 2! Chat more to level up and earn top roles!
Yep. And see if the other front wheel is moving when you move the one.
Brb then lmao
I feel like you might be right because in the video he can wiggle his tie rod cause its bad. I cannot do that at all
Right. You may simply have play in your whole steering assembly, which as long as the wheels move in sync, is much less of a problem than play in the tie rod end
Are there any symptoms i should look out for to tell if my wheels are out of sync?
Hahahaha ok. Then your tie rods likely just fine. Good diagnostic work!
And only other thing is there is rattling when hitting bumps, but thats only came up after the grinding sound slowed down so i wonder if thats the caliper moving around?
Cause you can tell its not lined up right either
Could be. Fix that caliper first and then test drive again to check for sounds.
