#audi a3 1.8t 2000 (AUM) smoking and no boost

Basically
The car flashed the Audi low oil pressure light the day before but it drove fine, the next morning I went to get oil (thinking that light meant top up oil) and filled it up in the parking lot, about 6km later I feel the car boosting weird (it cut off when I was accelerating like the boost just cut out)
Then I didn't get any boost in 4 gear and none in 5th
Something in the engine started rattling at lower rpms but went away at higher rpms
And the car just started smoking
The smoke doesn't smell like oil I don't think, it kinda smells like petrol
I also got a code P0411 (secondary air injection)
any help appreciated
Yeah also the car has 370k km

Your most likely junked your engine. Do NOT drive a car with the oil pressure light on. If that light is on you are in deep shit.

Had a very similar issue on a previous B5 A4 1.8 throwing the same code. Secondary air in these cars is a parasite, and there’s a reason the Blockoff is one of the most sold bolt on mods for a 1.8T. I really recommend coding out secondary air, removing the secondary air pump, and installing a blockoff plate where the Combi valve sits. I’d be willing to bet a lot of that smoke you’re seeing is blow by burning off, though obviously can’t be 100% sure this is the only issue. This creates a sizable vacuum leak which would explain your loss of boost as well as rough idle (your engine will misfire with secondary air injection failing as it’s then running lean)

I wouldn’t call it junk yet, give this a shot ^ the blockoff is 15$, will require it to be tuned out

if you want to be sure, crawl underneath the passenger side engine bay, and pull the plastic hose off of the secondary air pump and if there’s oil sitting in that tube or pump, you know it’s gone bad
