#rwd conversion

Check if you can get a e70 corrola, they rwd already. You get a liftback in that shape but they quite rare. Otherwise ae86 if you got cash to spend
Doing a rwd conversion is a lot more fabrication than you’d expect. It would be a fun project but plan for it to be double or triple the time and cost than you think it would be.
You have to completely flip the engine around as if it starts out as fwd it will be a transverse layout. My tip is just to get a car that is originally rwd as a conversion that you are talking about is a lot of work and money. The engine may not even fit longitudinally, and you will need a lot of fabrication pieces and some structural changes to the chassis
You will also need a new transmission, custom driveshaft, a rear differential along with all the components that attach to it. Mounts throughout the underside, new engine mount. Probably gonna have to cut your firewall, electrical work as you are gonna have to probably extend some wires and will have to hook up the manual transmission, new ecu, and structural reinforcements. Way too much work. If you are asking this question, sadly I don’t think you should consider this path. Get a rwd car
Also do you have a welder? (As you will need it for making brackets and reinforcements; it will also have to be gas). Do you have refinishing equipment? (With welding you will be removing coatings and will need to reapply them as well as adding corrosion protection. YOU CANT USE RATTLE CANS)
think of ot like this your engine rn is mounted transversal (sideways) you would have to turn it to be length ways with the car than fabricate both transmission and engine mounts aswell as make a custom driveshaft and then mount the rear differential and axles
it can probably be done and not as hard as you may think but hen again could be 10x harder than you think if your deadset on rwd fine but look into awd as they can be just as fun and im fairly certain there is awd kits for most honda's these days than you could just find a way to distribute power 100% to the rear wheels i know sometimes you can do this live with a controller type system but you could also just remove the front driveshaft lol
GG @cyan tartan, you just advanced to level 4! Chat more to level up and earn top roles!
i'm planning to buy one in this week
but anyway my project was something like not for road use, but maybe uphill race/drift
GG @prisma bolt, you just advanced to level 1! Chat more to level up and earn top roles!
Late 70s to early 80s were rear wheel drive. My people(Puerto Ricans) absolutely LOVE putting rotary engines in these cars
Op, this will take you a long time, you would have to have an engine that would some what fit, then cut the engine bay to fit. Transmission tunnel, drive shaft tunnel. Rear subframe would have to be changed out for axles and a pumpkin. So you would have to find one that would fit or modify one to fit. And that’s not even including the typical engine and transmission swap things you would do if you were just doing a FWD TO FWD swap.
Unless it’s been done a bunch of times, it would all be new. For example, making hatchback civics from the 90s AWD is nothing new anymore since it has been done. It would be a lot of work but there is PLENTY of information now to do it
You might be the only one in the world that would have done a conversion like this, which is super dope, but that alone tells you it’s a lot of money and work.
Just my opinion! 😃
Make sure it is a dece MIG and it has a tank with it. Also get a 20cfm compressor if you are wishing to repaint parts that needed to be sanded.
Well then it has to be solid. Make sure u practice a good bit before welding on your vehicle
