Pushing the stick over doesn't actually turn the car into a manual mode at all because the car is automatic transmission based on what u described lol

Anyways, when pressing the sports mode button, it makes ur car go faster and this will have your gears (while in sports mode) shift automatically so that you are having a comfortable ride and not worrying about shifting your gears manually. The steptronic transmission stick (M/S) basically allows you to take control over the cars gears and put more throttle so that you can go faster

#

For example, lets say that your car is a RWD and you are driving over a steep hill in sports mode. You notice that your car is taking its time going up the hill faster and this is because the cars gears are being shifted automatically to allow a smooth and efficient ride while preserving gas, but ofc because you are a BMW driver and you have to go fast so you switch over to using the steptronic transmission stick (M/S) which allows you to control which gear you want to go in so can beat that soccer's moms car to reaching the top of the hill because that car was in the way and you wouldn't let her beat you regardless because it would shatter ur beamer's ego

Anyways hope this helps lad and if that was a lil rough to understand then here's a video that demonstrates what Im basically sayin
