Worth doing this? I have a 1998 eclipse DSM with only 50k miles and I’m planning on upgrading the turbo and boost, only problem is it’s auto.

I have a couple of people selling manual eclipse transmissions nearby, however they’re old, have high mileage, and are in no working cars that have been stationary for probably months. Also heard on DSM forums that 2G eclipses are full of problems and changing the transmission could cause more problems
Should I just stick with auto?

I just want manual since all my other cars have been manual and it’s far more fun to drive. Just don’t know if it’s worth the hassle and money to swap

You shouldn’t do it to hold more power, but it’s arguable that it’s worth doing because [compared to a 90’s slush box” it’s more fun to drive. That said, you should not undertake this project without good documentation from someone who has done this before and can explain all the things that will need changed

Apart from that the only reason I want to do this is cause manuals are just far more fun in general, it'd probably be far cheaper to just buy a manual car tho
