Hello! Fairly new to cars (not driving but just all the details) so I have a question about a "project" I have for 2024

I have a 2019 BMW series 1 with a B38M engine if I remember correctly form when I bought it, which is a 3 cylinder 136hp gasoline/petrol car (translation is a bit hard, not the diesel one huh) and I was looking at doing a stage 1 on it
Would anyone have some recommendations or things to watch out for before doing it? I want to take it to 170hp which according to some websites that sell the service is the maximum this engine can get but I don't wanna risk breaking my car or my own safety from something unrelated to me driving

Thank you for your time (even if you just read it) !

Stages don’t exist, just video game talk

#

Don’t mod a 3 cyl

#

I wouldn’t put money into an engine like that. If it is making less hp then a miata and weighs 3000lbs. Not worth it.

i mean boosting a 179 hp car..

#

136

#

i mean

#

would it really be a good idea?

I have no idea that's why am asking 🤷‍♂️

#

If it's straight up just bad for the car or engine I might as well put money in the bank and save for another one

i mean

#

how much would it boost?

#

over 30%

#

or smth

It's about 25% or so iirc

It's not really like I'm stretching my budget to pay the mod, I'm just wondering about the safety of it really

More worth it saving every dime for a car that is worth modding

If you wanna mod a bmw get an e36

# young sigil It’s not worth it dude

Alright then I guess follow up question, what should I aim for as a "car that's worth modding" ? This car is kinda the one I drive dialy to work so it'd have to replace it as I have no space for 2 cars where I live :D

Also parts, the more aftermarket parts out there the better. Also trim sharing and parts sharing with cars is huge. My r34 sedan shares so many parts with the r34 gtr and other skylines. For example I have a r32 26dett cylinder head going on my r34 25de block.

#

Community is huge too, go for a community that has a lot of modifiers out there. They will help you out.

I guess that car is cheap enough for me to actually get that one on top of the car I have rn if I wanted to, i just need to find a parking spot for it really
What should I look for in term of km the car has? I guess lowest is probably better

#

I'm not really attached to bmw but I really like how they drive, from what I tested I also like old mercedes drives, do you have any name I should look at maybe?

#

Anyway tyvm I'll look for a real car to mod then 😅
