#Sound when turning left

please bob something i need u
can you record it?
i don’t think it’s loud enough but i’ll try later
GG @neat seal, you just advanced to level 2! Chat more to level up and earn top roles!
In lieu of a recording - does the sound occur when you turn the wheel or when the car is moving with the wheel turned? Does it change in tone/volume/frequency if the engine is at higher RPM? Or does it change in tone/volume/frequency if the car is moving faster? Does the sound stop when the car stops? Is it a metal to metal sound like loose change or a clunk like you dropped a barbell, or something else?
the sound it’s making is like a humming screech and it’s only while the car is moving while turned left
And i think when i accelerate it more the sound gets louder
I THINK
anything conclusion with that info?
Actually that’s helpful. I wonder about a loose piece of wheel well shrouding in one of your front wheels. Enough that it touches the tire when the wheels are turned but not when the wheels are straight.
that’s interesting
i did bring it to a mechanic you think that’s possible to overlook?
Kinda tough to miss if it’s up on a lift, I would hope. Otherwise you may be looking at cv joint, wheel hub/bearing and/or some suspension parts up there - given the crash any is a possibility.
i looked up cv joint noise it doesn’t sound like that
Look up a wheel bearing sound. Sometimes if one race of a dual race bearing fails, it only makes sound when the wheels are turned. Granted, usually it’s just a hum
You said they did an alignment so they would have noticed if there was any damage to your suspension parts.
Tie rods, control arms etc.
At least you would hope so.
I would check what Coffee said above
okay i looked up wheel bearing noise
and it does sound like that
now the follow up question everyone would ask
how much would it cost and how long
Is a wheel bearing easy to overlook as well?
Idk man, i bought it to these mechanics, 4 dudes working on it replacing the wheels and i also asked them to check for any other damages that needed to be fixed. they said it was okay after test driving it and sent me on my way
here is the exact situation
i turn my wheel a little to the left while i’m driving and it makes that humming noise
A wheel bearing bad would usually make the sound in your hand
Is this a press in or an assembly?
@proper badger Can you elaborate on both things? i don’t work with cars sorry
