Do you have fuel and spark?

#

Also did you check the surfaces to see if they were flat still

#

And did you get new head bolts

I have air fuel, and a spark. Got new head bolts. I didn't check if the surface was flat

Also how did you determine the head gasket was bad

ionic lance
#

The car was still overheating randomly I replaced everything in the coolant system

#

I used a head gasket leak detector, it turned a little yellow I think there was compression

Your cars outta time

#

Just gonna leave it right here

#

@ionic lance

#

When you do a head gasket it's pretty common for your car to be outta time rather it be distributor or head timing

Mhm

#

Theres no sensor to say you're outta time

#

Its cranking but no start?

#

Look up videos on how to correct distributor timing on a 04 civic

Crank no fire?

#

So you're getting spark fuel all that?

Did you do a valve adjustment? And I believe this model has a timing belt. Are you sure timing is dead on?

I disconnected the fuel rail is there a possibility it needs to be pressurized again? I disconnected the fuel rail just to see if there was fuel again, and the fuel came out.

vagrant hare
#

Sounds like it's not getting fuel

#

Its what my civic did

#

Would start off brake clean for .5 sec then stop

#

It just wasnt getting fuel

At least in the SOHC found in the 2000 models, you would put the cam shaft gear with the word UP facing directly up, with the two timing marks on that gear level with the top of the head. This is to be done when cylinder ONE is TDC on the compression stroke.

#

Then the crank would need to be on timing with its timing marks and boom the belt can go on. Obviously this is a lot easier if you mark everything prior but I’m just saying you could be slightly out of timing of this process was not done correctly. Which I hope isn’t the case because I believe this is an interference motor.

#

Ultimately the head should of been sent to a machine-shop prior to reinstalling to verify if it was true or not. Then they can make it true. Before you m move forward, I would do a compression test with the new head gasket or your just running in circles

Of course. All you need is the motor to turn over a couple of times with each cylinder

There is coolant and oil mixing

hardy cypress
#

You need to take it back apart and take the head to a machine shop

I checked with a straight up to see if there was anything out of adjustment that was blatently obvious and their wasnt. Usually its going to be the head that warps because the head is just heald on with bolts. With that being said that is not alwasy the case but its a risk you may or may not want to take.

#

I mean you didnt blow the headgasket in the sense that the motor over heated right?

#

You just noticed the collant was mixing with the oil and vice versa?

I would use a good straight edge

#

Don’t need to buy a pricey one. If it’s obvious. You will know once you see light coming out from underneath it

And ask what they charge

Isn't it just an i4

Yeah

#

Is it iron block or aluminum

hardy cypress
#

What I said Op was to check the block with the straight edge, don’t assume it’s going to be ok.

summer garnet
#

If anything I would assume it's warped

#

Lucky if it isn't

hardy cypress
#

I’ve had the block be fine but still took the head to a shop.
