Took off a bent control arm and now with the new arm the hole isn't aligning, can verify no other mechanical arms or components are damaged, been stuck on this issue for a week and have tried everything, loosening all the other control arms for play to align and cant get it to line up at all. Need help urgently!

Car is a 2013 BMW 328I X DRIVE, positoning for bolt is rear wheel passenger side

There are several methods, usually using a second jack on the axle to move it up and down until it lines up close then using a small pry bar or screwdriver to line it up best you can

#

Finally, get a bigger hammer

#

LCA is usually a 2 person job just because of how awkward it is

Maybe. You would have to try it

#

Try loosening the big axle nut to give you some room to pull the wheel hub out slightly

cosmic tusk
#

it’s raining until fucking tuesday so i might just finish work on the rain

shadow brook
#

Might give you wiggle room. Just to confirm, you do have the correct part?

cosmic tusk
#

i don’t got the axle bolt attachment cause bmw has a fat allen bolt for the axle

cosmic tusk
#

and got the exact part number

#

i have one big jack and one spare tire jack that’s holding the suspension rn

#

the bigger jack will be use on the arm and smaller on rotor?

shadow brook
#

Your in the city?

cosmic tusk
#

yeah in brooklyn where it hit the hardest

#

rain stopped

#

getting to work

cosmic tusk
#

lowered the right jack stand to add some tilt to the wheel hub to make the holes align better

cosmic tusk
#

this is where we’re at

#

any help?

shadow brook
#

I would put a pry bar here and using the bolt to give you leverage, pull towards the brake assembly. Should allow the bolt holes to line up. May need a second person.

cosmic tusk
#

sounds good will attempt

#

bolt is in… halfway

#

we have no pry bar btw

#

used a screwdriver through the hole and yeah

#

stuck right now

cosmic tusk
#

job is done thank you all for the help

Sounds like the shock and inner bushing might be binding. You can see that the outer outer is a ball joint so it will not bind. Best practice is to loosen all the bolts on the part until you get all the bolts in. Then set the part by jacking the arm up and tighten them all.
