I have a 2004 BMW E46 320d 2.0 M47 engine with a Stage 1 tune, but as most of the other ones I've seen make a whistle when revving and also when releasing the throttle, mine has more of an airy sound ("cha"?) And I'm not sure why that is. Might it be that i still have a catalytic converter or something?

Your probably hearing your intake, not sure what you mean by whistle but others could have a bov venting to atmosphere would be my guess

#

Maybe send a vid of the sounds

What did you do for the "stage 1" tune? Stage 1, stage 2 etc is completely meaningless. Often enough stage 1 is just map, but some do intake, exhaust etc under stage 1 too.

Straight pipe should give you some turbo whistles

well i think the straight pipe might be the solution but isnt that bad for the engine?
