Hyundais are pretty noisy cars. I would ask the the appraiser how they came to the conclusion it has knock. The engine light should come on if the knock sensor is going off.

Even with proper maintenance Hyundais can develop engine damage. They are not the best designed cars; they have had oil lubrication and rod bearing issues since the dawn of their creation.
Reving it a little bit high honestly is better sometimes as it will remove moisture and clean out the cylinder head a bit.
Rev my subaru crosstrek up to 5k every so often and have zero moisture in my oil and my head is perfect.
