2020 Audi S4 Gas leak (dripping)

Hi so i just had my resonators removed from my car. Everything went well until i got home. I parked my car in my garage… 20 mins later my house started to smell like gas, i look under my car and its dripping something (i assume its gas)

The shop is super reputable (in terms of reviews and the amount of cars they get) and the guys i spoke to seemed reliable.

Do you think when welding or cutting they hit my gas tank?

Definitely a possibility. You need to call them as soon as you can and bring it back to them.

If they accidentally damage the car, they should be responsible. Unless you signed a waiver of some sorts. Give them a call and see what they say.

If it is gas, I doubt that it was leaking prior to welding the exhaust. If it was, they would if known really quick lol

uh, where do you fuel lines run. if you can see them. because that kind of looks like its dripping from the bunghole (hehe) which would mean the liquid is pooling above it which kind of looks like it might sort of be in the car..

like thats how it looks when your car is full of water after you left the windows down in a storm

the guy who was cutting my resonators cut a little too far

and sliced my gas tank

thats one expensive cut, but hey they’re sourcing me a new gas tank

yea i mean the shop really doesnt want any bad blood, they goofed and mentioned it was their first/2nd time this has ever happened in 2+ years of being open

Yeah I’d ask them to fix all the damage they caused tho not just the gas tank. Atleast they’re offering to fix it

i finally got my car back

gas tank is from same year and make car it happened to be the only same exact tank in the US (they couldve gotten a gas tank from an A4 because they share the same tank size) + the tank has "less milage"

i got a $300 refund and my car is sounding good

all is good now

This is great to hear.

Love when businesses back up their work as well as their mistakes. Now they have you as a trusted customer and you will let people know how good of a job they can do.

I would recommend leaving them an online review or something along those lines. Im sure they would appreciagte it.

for the mean time probably not but they’re literally the only shop i contacted that does exhaust welding
