#how to fix this paint wear/oxidation?
36 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
It's isolated to that spot. Of course everything online says it needs to be repainted but tbh I don't wanna shell out all that money for it. Looking for a diy solution
well u can do a few things
u can apply a ceramic coating, spray a UV protection / paint protection, wrap it or just don't park it out in the sun
all these things can do urself
and they aren't very expensive
It won't get worse unless u're in the sun a lot
and unless u wash ur car ofcourse
Thanks. I don't plan to park it in the sun. I recently aquired the vehicle so it just came with it.
Can’t fix it, it’s a repaint. The peel is damaged and peeling; so the paint is fried too
A ceramic coating isn’t gonna adhere well to peeling clear and fried paint. It’s either a sand and wrap or a sand and paint. I would paint; but that is a easy 5k
Unless u prep
That's gonna cost me an arm and a leg
Then just live with it, not the end of the world
Idc about the aesthetics I don't want it to get worse or damage the structure
Well then park it inside or cover the car
Not like a tarp layered over it as the sun can bake the tarp and then damage the paint; but like a tent.
What about touch up paint

Touch up paint is meant for small dings not that. Also u would have to sand down the messed up clear and damaged paint. Touch up paint also may not match the same as ur car’s colour, especially if it is faded
It’s gonna have to be a repaint imo
If you got the time u can do all the prep work yourself and get it painted for cheaper.
i can do the sanding on my own if that makes a difference
i keep it covered all the time since i got the vehicle but it just came like that
so if properly doing a touchup paint would prevent further damage thats all i rly care about
how much time u got
Might be possible
I didn’t say it will fix it, I said it will stop it from getting worse

So try sanding it and painting it your self. It’s the roof anyways. Gives you a chance to learn a new skill.
