Hello, I have a 2002 Ford Explorer Sport with an A/C issue. The A/C works, but it’s really weak, it takes a long time to start functioning properly and on really hot days it’s barely noticeable. The A/C compressor is working and activating, but it only stays on for 2 seconds and cycles EXTREMELY frequently, more than it’s supposed to. I checked the refrigerant and found it was good, but when the compressor activated, it would lose pressure almost instantly, leading me to suspect there being a leak of some sort somewhere. What else could be causing this issue and how can I fix it?

This is sad
What are your high side and low side pressures
I believe 40 on the high side and like 20 on the low, I can’t really remember
That's bad
Very very low for high side
It was in the normal range according to the gauge I used

1/2″ Valve Recharge Hose w Gauge – 13″ / 33 cm The heavy duty Recharge Hose with Pressure Gauge is suitable for all Emzone 1234yf Refrigerant products. Use to determine current pressure status of A/C system and ensure accuracy when recharging. The durable brass connectors ensure a safe and secure fit. Low side port 123
It’s consistently in the blue range
That's a 1234yf gauge
You have 134a
I don't think those have compatible valves
Ah shit, you might be right, I’ll confirm that when I get the chance cause that’s what I used to test it
Or something like that
Ok I checked the one I used was a r134a gauge it just happened to look exactly the same as that one, it wouldn’t be compatable
I used this one
2002 probably gonna explode
Shut up

i sad
hi bob
How much of a charge does it call for from the factory
i was dropped as a kid
Something like 50, but I didn’t wanna fill it too much
How many pounds
And ounces
Sorry I believe it was 50 oz, but the gauge measured in psi so I just went off of that
I’ll have to confirm again when I get home in a couple days
Personally I'd probably get the system recharged by a shop just to verify the correct amount of refrigerant and pag oil is put in
Yeah, I think I’ll do that
lol i took it in, it was low freon, its working great now.
