#Should I buy an Mazda RX-8?

I was trying to buy a new car and found this beauty. I have tried to find opinions on this car but always heard either really good sides or either really bad sides because of the Wankel engine. Some say its a ticking time bomb but some say it depends on how the driver drives it if it gets good treatment it can reach up to 200.000 KM but if unlucky it can reach only 30.000 km before having any problems. I dont have any ideas on how good a Wankel engine is and if its actually worth it. I heard its fun, it sounds good but is a timebomb that could "explode" anytime

So this one has 70.000 KM and 190 HP its year is 2005 and apparently has no problems besides some scratches or rust.
Its also relatively cheap for where I live.

Rotary engines require much more every day maintenance, you will need to mix your gas every time you fill up, you don't wanna let it idle for ever especially in the cold, etc. If you maintain it properly it will be as reliable as anything else, they just have a tendency to not have been maintained well.

There's an oil additive for rotary engines you should be mixing in with your gas if you want to maximize the engine's life span

I'm sure it would be fine for daily driving, just be prepared to take care of it that's all, keep an eye on your oil levels as they naturally burn a little oil too

You might not NEED to, I don't own a rotary, just read some forums about it and the guy I know who owns one uses additive. Would definitely look into the various forums, see what other owners use and recommend.

btw @narrow surge should i rather buy a 2004 with less miles and more hp but for like 10k or the 2005 one but with scratches and stuff but for 5k

the looks, the sound and also one of the easier if not the easiest "jdm" car to get in austria that isnt too old or has too many miles

the easiest car to get is an audi, bmw or mercedes but i somehow dislike it because the only thing you see is a bmw, mercedes or audi

I never know if the bmw behind me flashing my eyes out is my friend or just another bmw dicksucker its just annoying

thats why i thought the rx8 might be a cool choice cause its a fun car and kind of reliable if taken care of and i have no problem with taken care of it

Idk, you guys have some 350z over there for under 20k, a few hyundai genesis coupes for around 12k, some older camaros for 15kish, there was one dodge challenger v6 for 22k. There's one toyota crown for 20k as well. Several Honda Preludes for under 8k

As someone who is comfortable working on cars I’ll say I wouldn’t buy one unless I was planning on swapping the powertrain or something for a gutted event car. As they came from the factory the rx8 is just a bad car. Super cool looking, but a bad car overall. There are so many of them for sale not running they go for like 1000usd around here.
